Hi!

I have a small blog which I use to write down thought provoking world issues from a Christian point of view. I have been thinking a lot about a certain issue and wanted to get opinions before I write about it.
The issue I'm referring to is when people say "whatever makes you happy" and "as long as you're not hurting anyone". You hear that SO MUCH nowadays from people.

What are your thoughts? :chin

People tend to think "individual" rather than social when discussing things like victimless crimes or "live and let live". I remember back in the late 60s, early 70s the "in" thing was, "If two people want to shack up how does that hurt you?". But 40 years later we can see the results... 40% of the babies born today are born out of wedlock and many may not even know who their real parents are.

We are social creatures and family ties more often than not satisfy the need for identity, to belong. Without it some are apt to join gangs or groups to which they can identify without regard of what that group or gang may stand for. "Identity" is a very important part of our lives.

We're not hermits and the recluse are viewed as "odd". Everything we do influences society as a whole whether directly or indirectly. Yes, we have individual rights and freedoms but we must remember each part makes up the whole.

Thanks Rick. It seems you "got" what I was getting at.

I'm sad nobody else seems to have reply for me. I guess most of the time my ideas are too abstract :chin
