My daughter in law, about 43, is a runner. She's participated in the NY Marathon twice. She runs 13 miles on a regular basis but runs all the time, at least twice a week. I believe this makes a very strong heart -- and legs and everything else.

I believe the amount of activity we do as young people will have an impact on how agile, pliable, we are as older persons.

Is that what happened to me?! Lol. I spent a lot of my young life reading and playing chess!

I'm paying for it now, lol. I don't like watching other people play chess though, like on tv and such...It's about as exciting as watching the grass grow.

It's still better to start at some point.
I read a lot too (not anymore).
But I also moved a lot, played games, rode a bike, walked a lot, exercised, all this when I was still a teen.
We should never be discouraged.

Great thread Wondering. My favourites have been walking, cycling, tennis, hockey and gardening. My body will only allow me walking on the flat now, can't climb hills any more, and can only do gardening a bit at a time. No balance for cycling now and tennis and hockey are only days gone by. I would have loved to be able to swim but never got the hang of it, just used to float :lol

We must be the same age!!
I'm having the same problems.

Ahh! the site is back! :)

I have always liked to go camping too. It's not really a sport but it can be physically taxing and a lot of fun. I still have most of my gear.
Yeah, what happened?
I couldn't log on for two days.

Good to see everyone again!
:)

It could be a sport you actually participate in
or something you like to watch and enjoy.

I can't think of a sport I enjoy watching...
But my favorite sport is riding a bike.

It's so easy to go fast and move along.
The wind feels nice on my face and hair.
It's a feeling of freedom for me.

This is a good place. No traffic at all.

Girls.
My favorite sport is girls.

Yes, it was once. I did cross-country aka Nordic skiing for many years on trails in Alaska.

Alaska?!? They have great terrain for Telemark skiing. That's where you can propel yourself up the mountain on your skis much quicker than snowshoes, don't need any ski lifts, and get fresh untracked snow which is much nicer to ski down on.

The telemark ski season in Washington doesn't even start until Memorial Day!

Tessa was a hockey player?!?

No wonder I like you :)

Hey, Tessa, Three years ago I tried to give my 3 speed thin tired bike a go..no more can do as lost balance and ended up with a sprained knee and on crutches for a couple of weeks. Fortunately nothing was broken. The only bike I ride now is my indoor exercise one. Used to do a lot of mountain biking and cycling when we lived in Alaska. Sold two of my mountain bikes at a yard sale in August. Sad to see them go. Like old friends leaving. I can't climb hills anymore either so live vicariously though younger family members and friends who are doing that. Love photos taken on their hikes, etc. I never got the hang of swimming either although my mother was a great swimmer and diver in her day.
