Hey, Tessa, Three years ago I tried to give my 3 speed thin tired bike a go..no more can do as lost balance and ended up with a sprained knee and on crutches for a couple of weeks. Fortunately nothing was broken. The only bike I ride now is my indoor exercise one. Used to do a lot of mountain biking and cycling when we lived in Alaska. Sold two of my mountain bikes at a yard sale in August. Sad to see them go. Like old friends leaving. I can't climb hills anymore either so live vicariously though younger family members and friends who are doing that. Love photos taken on their hikes, etc. I never got the hang of swimming either although my mother was a great swimmer and diver in her day.

The YouTube videos of people taking this stuff to extremes is epic! Sailing, skiing, you name it ...

Hi Sunflower :wave2 I never had a bike of my own. The local lads used to lend me theirs. My son used to do a lot of mountain cycling. He went to Scotland many times on his bike. He's given it up now and put a lot of weight on.
My balance isn't good any more either. How we take things for granted when we are young!
What is it with that swimming!! I made sure that my two children could swim before they started school.
You, Wondering and myself seem to be going through the same stages.

Well, I suppose I could go sailing if someone else did the work, but maybe not as at over 80 I might find getting in and out of the boat too hard. :biggrin. No extemes for me.

Maybe so, so we are in good company!

Last time I saw my Mom (she's 84) I helped her into a rowboat at her lakehouse, and my Brother rowed her away.
Precious Memories ...

It could be a sport you actually participate in
or something you like to watch and enjoy.

I can't think of a sport I enjoy watching...
But my favorite sport is riding a bike.

It's so easy to go fast and move along.
The wind feels nice on my face and hair.
It's a feeling of freedom for me.

This is a good place. No traffic at all.

wondering,

I used to play cricket but am too old for that now. I love watching it on TV. See: https://www.cricket.com.au/video/da...ield-mitch-marsh-bosisto-centuries/2018-11-05

That's in the Aussie summer. For winter, I enjoy a more rough and tumble sport of rugby league.

I don't mind viewing tennis. See my article, Fourteen Holey Bible arguments against Margaret Court

we used our feet it was run zero temps at night with a high about 15 degrees each day ..that would been about 1979 ,we was out of school from about mid November to early February.. not only that there was a big hill we use to slide down on what ever we could find old flat tin washing machine frames car hoods . we would make it down to the bottom of the hill .have climb back up or the times we landed in the ditch from crashing ..back when we had real winter

In Missouri?

Heh, I grew up in NJ, started playing hockey in '74. Our ponds didn't offer skating very often or for very long, and that's much farther north. Just shows you the impact of the ocean vs being way inland

it takes several days of zero temps to freeze a pond solid enough to walk on it . even then you proceed with caution listen for creaking sounds . use to walk on frozen creeks.but there not very deep most case knee deep .country life is interesting then generation before me made there own games there own fish hooks and poles . the little town i am from is about 325 or so..counting dogs and cats lol
