I'm not quite that active a member, but I'm VERY active on another site.

I'm an ex-homeschooler and I'm wondering what do you all think of the following statement?

The website has been "a buzz" with the tone among our recent forums. Why is there a trend toward the blatant disregard of God & His Word? In the words of my friend Peggy, there IS a standard, and that standard is the Word of God

Who will say with us - IT'S NOT OKAY:

to have sex before marriage
to live with your boyfriend/girlfriend/fiance prior to marriage
to disregard legal marriage because *you* have decided you are married before God

There are young adults reading our threads who have been confused as to what defines Truth. It's the Bible. God is very clear when He commands us to "wait" or to "enter into union", etc. These aren't options, these are Biblical commands that God has given us, and as believers, we have the responsibility to hold one another accountable to this standard of righteousness.

For those choosing to live outside of God's stated boundaries for sex, be warned: you will be held accountable for your choices, and for those you have led astray by your "advice". Whether it's a post you've made, or a private message you've sent to another forum member, it is shameful to know that young people are questioning the Word of our GOD because other believers are openly practising sin.

Post here if you agree & are willing to take a stand for these truths.

So, does this post quoted, in your opinion, speak the truth. And more importantly, does it speak the truth in love?

Please forgive me if this is a duplicate post, etc.

This is truth, well stated, the only part I didnt agree with is....
"because other believers are openly practising sin. "
This isn't a believer, this is a fake, someone kidding themself.
Other than that it was right-on!

God's Word in Hebrews states:

Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge.

Also: In Matthew 18 Jesus asks that we go to one another if a brother sins against us, not regarding OPEN sin.

Remember: I'm not the author of the opening quoted statement. I'm asking if you think the statement is worded in a loving manner?

AND how does it compare to what Paul says in this passage:

It is actually reported that there is immorality among you, and immorality of such a kind as does not exist even among the Gentiles, that someone has his father's wife.
2 You have become arrogant and have not mourned instead, so that the one who had done this deed would be removed from your midst.
3 For I, on my part, though absent in body but present in spirit, have already judged him who has so committed this, as though I were present.
4 In the name of our Lord Jesus, when you are assembled, and I with you in spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus,
5 I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
6 Your boasting is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of dough?

Yes I think the statement was worded in a loving manner, God's love is sometime loving someone enough to tell them the truth even if it may not be the popular thing to do. Thats what love is, if I see your house on fire, i'm gonna tell ya it's burning.

I guess I have the most problem with this one statement.

For those choosing to live outside of God's stated boundaries for sex, be warned: you will be held accountable for your choices,

We are ALL going to be held accountible for our choices, not just those who are sexually immoral.

I don't feel comfortable saying one way or another that it was written in love, because I think 20 people could read it differently and have 20 different perceptions based on personal experiences and sensitivities.

My biggest problem with posts of those nature is how they sometimes sound like the author is holier than thou and sin free...and just 'doing their Christian duty to hold others accountible'...well, who is holding THEM accountible for their sins?

I have to disagree with you. A believer can most certainly be openly practicing sin! Even Satan is a 'believer'!

I agree with you on that point, because we are useing the word believer here. My mistake.
I dont believe that a person who calls themself a christian and cohabits with a member of the opposite sex is a christian, except in name only.
