What's your SQ? (spiritual quotient)...

Decades ago, it was only IQ that was thought to be the only valid form of intelligence. Then fast forward to 1990s and we were introduced to the concept of emotional intelligence – we were told that how we manage our emotions could potentially be even more important than our IQ. And then came 2000, our understanding of the facets of intelligence was further broadened when the idea of spiritual intelligence emerged.

But what exactly is spiritual quotient (SQ)? And why is SQ even more important in today’s era? How can our understanding of SQ help us in addressing modern-day problems such as insensitivity – or even terrorism?

I think this is valid consideration for us on this world. I knew of it before, but had never heard the term SQ. Then I ran across the term and read up on it a little, and...I wonder if the Missouri types (show me) have considered the reality of the spiritual realm and it's influence upon us in our lives here on this planet.

IQ is academic aptitude, a function of the human brain. IQ correlates with academic performance, given equal effort by people. Social skills are processed in a different area of the brain. Asperger's patients tend to have lofty IQs, but are unable to understand human relationships very well. Social skills are also a function of the human brain. By contrast, spiritual matters do not seem to be solely a function of the human brain.

“But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?”

Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven.
Matthew 16:15-17 New International Version (NIV)

so how did ya answer this one Edward
33. I believe that the word of God is contained in works such as the Bible or the Holy Qur'an

Some of the questions indicate that testers don't consider Jesus to be the only way. It seemed to be some sort of employment test, to find out if applicants can work with people holding other beliefs on the job. I wasn't about to give them my name and email.

The original article was testing to find out people's humanism beliefs, not spiritual quotient.

That is precisely the problem with determining a "spiritual quotient;" it's entirely subjective and will change based on one's worldview.

I remember that one. I answered it according to the words of the question....such as the Bible, or...so the answer was yes. Even though the Quaran is not.

I noticed that too. The PC stance nowadays is such that all the different religions and denominations are to be...yada yada yada.
You know how I know that the Christan Bible is the real one over all others?

Because it was God's responsibility to get the correct book into my hands during this life...I hardly think He failed in that! No one ever stuck a Quaran in my hand so it's moot immediately.

Employment test...Lol! I hear ya', you're right. It's all I could find on this subject though. I'm just scratching the surface with this. I have realized (through scripture) that (we are not to lean upon our own understanding, i.e., intellect) so the "smart thing" to do, is to meet this God upon His own terms and path, and that means being open to receive divine spiritual guidance from an unseen spirit. Where art thou Lord? Here I am...

and that's the bottom line. We must not only believe in God but to cultivate our spiritual man and related knowledge into...a higher form of consciousness and being by opening ourselves up to receive these things from our Almighty and Unseen God. Which means living it, thinking it. Walking in it.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. John 16:13 KJV

IQ is a measure of how well the natural mind can learn from man. Spiritual things are not solely discerned this way. Tests devised by unbelievers won't measure how spiritually mature a person is. Unbelievers are spiritually clueless.

We should strive for Biblical spiritual maturity.

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. Hebrews 5: 12-14 New King James Version (NKJV)
