the chaplain does represent their faith. it would kill any chance for me ever entering a chapel if they made them do that and they went along with that. trust me that faith keep me through a lot. the dod knows that to be very vital, a chaplain has more knowledge of what the moral is then the chain does as he is more approachable.

they sign the license just as any pastor does.

:shrug I think in most court houses people will be respectful of each other if someone doesn't want to marry a gay couples. Usually there is more than one person who is authorized to do that i would think.

the first one is a commentary. do we know the content of the speech? giving a speech doesn't mean he celebrated it. what if an atheist came to church for easter. did he really celebrate it? not unless he is saved. a government official must be neutral. if i was potus, i wouldn't attend any. that way no one could say this about me.
I have since posted 2 more articles, he definitely celebrated it and hosted all of them at the White House.

Did he do a sedar?
Not according to this article:
Obama Issues Statement Marking Ramadan, But No Easter Statement This Year
President Barack Obama on Monday issued a statement marking the start of Ramadan, the month devoted to prayer and fasting in the Muslim religion.

“As Ramadan begins, Michelle and I would like to send our best wishes to Muslim communities in the United States and around the world,” thestatement reads. “Ramadan is a festive time that is anticipated for months by Muslims everywhere.”

Obama did not issue a statement marking Easter this year, and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked about it during a press conference on April 25.

Maybe he does now because people had an absolute cow.....
If he is Christian he should not be celebrating Ramadan, I would never do that.

No, he did Passover his very first year in 2009 and Passover comes before Ramadan in the year.

Here is a partial quote for the weekly address last spring.
"Earlier this week, we hosted a Passover Seder at the White House, and joined Jewish families around the world in their retellings of the story of the Exodus and the victory of faith over oppression.

"And this Sunday, Michelle, Malia, Sasha, and I will join our fellow Christians around the world in celebrating the Resurrection of Christ, the salvation he offered the world, and the hope that comes with the Easter season.

These holy days have their roots in miracles that took place long ago. And yet, they still inspire us, guide us, and strengthen us today. They remind us of our responsibilities to God and, as God’s children, our responsibilities to one another."

I have a Qu'ran, too, I just don't celebrate Ramadan, I highly doubt Thomas Jefferson did either.
LOL I don't think Jefferson did either. That was just a interesting piece of history that surprised me when it really shouldn't have. :oops2

I still think his roots are in Islam...

I also know from something that Jason pointed out, I went and found, and posted that he doesn't look at the scriptures the same way I do or most of us do, I think.
Did you see that post? It was actually something he said about the Sermon on the Mount compared to Romans 1.

Honestly, I have not read the whole thread.

I know in one speech of his he was asking what we should do and then threw a bunch of OT laws into the mix - for instance, should we stone them. I see this as mocking the Bible and a complete misunderstanding of what the Bible means. His old church, Jeremiah Wright, was more concerned about civil rights and dislike of the white man, that is that pastor's agenda, I doubt if any real Bible was taught.

You said,
"It's pretty obvious that Barack Obama is not a Christian due to his actions,"
I'm asking...
What actions? You see I can't put my finger on anything that I can think of. There are things that I don't like but the closest I can come to is sitting in a racist church. Other than that I can't think of anything specific. So I was wondering what tells you that.
But never mind.

Ohhh, I see what you mean. Forgive me for being obtuse, lol. You're right too, I am not talking about any of his specific actions, but rather as a representative of the people...and his track record isn't very good. (You know how when you have a reeeal good friend, that it's immediately plain and obvious? They're just too good to you?!) Well I feel as if we did have half a friend in politics that it'd be obvious, lol. Is that going too far?

That would be big news if we had someone working for the people in Washington! I know it sounds far fetched, but, it's true. Everyone that gets in office tears the country down a little. It's not all Obamas fault, but it's the same group that has been above those handling the elections since...(God knows when).

Click on Where Are You? That is the post, think it was 180

Look at the very last paragraph in that post. That bothers me. I don't think it is obscure.

But it also makes me wonder if that is how he reads the Qu'ran as well. He just doesn't see that killing the infidel is for today's Muslims and is rather like the idea of some of the old testament law not being for today. So in his mind it can today be a religion of peace. Does that make any sense?

japan is still very patriarchal in nature. with manhood each culture defines what is masculine. the pharaohs of moses day wore makeup, and could wield a sword. how many men today can do that in combat and don't wear make up? not many. we have our guns of course but the point remains the same.

japan is odd, really odd. the samurai were very strong and deadly, read poetry and gay by some accounts.

Well, they do have their face darkener, so there's that...lol.

Patriarchal. Right. This stuff means something to these people beyond formalities, and it should to the American people also. Bowing down to a leader of a country is an act of submission.

If Obama was asked the question "Do people who are not Christians go to heaven when they die?" How do you think he would answer? I haven't heard him answer this question directly, but have read an interview where he suggest that all religions are a different path leading to the same thing.

Thanks Jason, I just went to the net and think I found all that have been the most upsetting and used against him. (notice I am not saying used against him unfairly).
In the first one he is talking about gay marriage.....
On May 9, 2012, the President said:
[Michelle and I] are both practicing Christians and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at root that we think about is not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it's also the Golden Rule, you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated.[2]

This is the one I heard.....
At the "Call to Renewal" conference, Mr. Obama said:

Which passages of Scripture should guide our public policy? Should we go with Leviticus, which suggests slavery is ok and that eating shellfish is abomination? How about Deuteronomy, which suggests stoning your child if he strays from the faith? Or should we just stick to the Sermon on the Mount - a passage that is so radical that it's doubtful that our own Defense Department would survive its application? So before we get carried away, let's read our Bibles. Folks haven't been reading their Bibles.[3]

This is what he said about a scripture in Romans 1. Again when talking about civil marriages for gays. Which is what he proposed.
“If people find that controversial then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans,”
Deb,
I want to thank you for doing what I try to do when I think someone is wrong. My hands are becoming harder and harder to use and my body tires, just, sitting up. But aside from that, since My first couple of years, after conversion, and acting, too, much as I did before conversion and debating issues, I know today that I can argue until the rest of my teeth fall out and never change a mind, making it essential that people convince themselves.

I, being a logic driven man, do not believe everything spoken or published about Obama is true but I have lived my life on the principal that where smoke is found, there is a reason for it.

God bless young lady.

You know when I read Obama's statement comparing love thy neighbor to Romans 1, I don't think he understands that it is NOT loving your neighbor to imply in any way that homosexuality is not sin.
Jesus didn't give us a choice between love thy neighbor and calling sin a sin. He said do both.

No more than any other politician. His Holiness George W. Bush wasn't entirely truthful either.

TOG,
That amounts to an unsubstantiated declaration and either one of us has a monumental task to prove our case but I am on the receiving

Amen and as most here should understand I am a whole Bible man that even when two scriptures, pulled from their context disagree, will put them back into context and show how they agree or at least do not disagree.

Seriously? You think my saying that Bush wasn't entirely honest is more unsubstantiated than you saying Obama is a Muslim? You've got to be kidding. How many times did Bush change the stated reason for the Iraq war? If he was totally honest from the beginning, why did the stated purpose change? If it was all about WMDs, and they knew exactly where they were, then why wasn't that the first place they went? Instead, the first thing they did was to secure the oil fields. And you think he was entirely honest? And if we use the same standard on Bush as people in this thread are using on Obama, then he wasn't that great of a Christian either. He believed that the the Bible was not entirely true and that all religions lead to the same god (Source).
