1) Some say: Believe + Baptized = Saved

2) Universalist says: Not Believe + Not Baptized = Saved

3) Atheist says: Believe + Baptized = Not Saved

4) Infant Baptism says: Not Believe + Baptized = Saved

5) Others say: Belief = Saved

Okay I voted. However, I need to elaborate on my stand on this issue. I did choose number 1 Believe + Baptized = Saved.

However, if a young man was saved Friday night, and called a Church Saturday morning to be baptized Sunday morning, but that night (Saturday) the inevitable happened and he ends up dieing. I believe he will go to Heaven. This does not try to justify that he was not yet baptized, because I believe in baptism, but if he repented and gave his life to the Lord. He's Saved!!

It's unfair, I know but I'd include you in number 5. You believe salvation occurs before baptism, baptism being the fruit of conversion...right?

I don't know any Universalists who believe that "non-believer and not baptised=saved". :o

Blue

That is what Universalist are all about, no matter what religon one is they are going to be saved, even if they deny Jesus right to the end they get saved.

Only the worst of the worst will end up in hell.

There is a bio on this group at http://www.carm.org

Check it out.

Henry,

You are so wrong. I don't like to be labled a universalist even though I believe all will be saved but I do believe we must believe and confess that Jesus is our Savior and I believe everyone will do just that before the end. Baptism is not necessary for salvation.

Agreed with charlotte.
Jason was misleading in his description of universalism.

I am #1, BUT....

I believe it goes even beyond that:

I believe you must:

1. Repent
2. Believe and trust God's record. (the word of God)
3. Be Baptized.
4. Recieve the Holy Ghost by laying on of Hands.
5. Believe and understand the Resurrection
6. Believe in and understand Eternal Judgement.

Hebrews 6:1-2. This is the Foundation that one must build upon.

In the above 2. should read :

Believe God's record of His son, left on record in the Bible. As WELL, our Doctrine must be that of the Apostles and Jesus Christ.

I'm in the middle of #1 and #5. The belief is what saves you, but you MUST obey God's command to be baptized by emersion.

How so? Universalism believes all are saved even if they spend a little pit stop in hell, so how is it misleading?

No one is saved until they repent and confess the name of Christ. Those who "do a pit stop in hell" are not saved during that time. UR believes that all will be saved, but not right away and certainly not before or during their "pit stop" in hell.

Scofield: Death and hell are consummated/cast into the Lake of Fire. Fire, far more than being simply destruction, is the very Presence of the Glorious One, His essence linked with Love/Light/Spirit. Our God is a consuming fire and all aspects of His kingdom are centered in His essence, the Lake. Jesus Christ declared all mankind will be salted with fire. Fire will try every mans work and being. It is the River of Fire, the Katharos River, that flows for the healing of the nations, note, healing, not destruction. The River of Fire, flowing in and out of the Lake of Fire burning with the breath of Jehovah, and incense of Divine qualities (Theos/ Theion), reaches into every individuals life. This is hardly a pit-stop, but rather, an abiding union with the Glorious One.

"I beheld till the thrones were cast down and the ANCIENT OF DAYS took His throne. His clothing was white as snow and the hair of His head was like pure white wool. His throne was a blaze of flames and His wheels were burning fire. A River of fire streamed and issued forth from His presence. Thousand thousands ministered to Him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before Him."

Linen: I usally don't read what you write, so pls, don't go out of your way for me.

Scofield: You evidently have not read what the believers in the Restitution of all things have written, thus your comments on pit stops. Rest assured, it is a pleasure posting the odd thing to you, and most assuredly, does not involve going out of my way in the slightest degree. :biggrin

LOL - I made a choice when I did not know what I was choosing. You asked "which one are you?" so, naturally, I picked 1 (one). If you had asked, "which three are you?" I would have picked 3.

Now, what was the question again?

But, if you believe in predestination, isn't it more:

Saved, therefore will believe and be baptized?

Does sequence have any meaning with predestination?

Then, you could always have:
1. Believe
2. Saved
3. Baptized
4. Backslidden
a. Dead yet? If no, then proceed to 5, else to 4b
b. Eternal Security? If no, then proceed to 6, else to 7
5. Rededicated
a. Dead yet? If no, then go to 4, else go to 5b
b. Were you really saved to begin with? If no, then proceed to 6, else to 7
6. In Hell
a. UR? If yes, wait until fullness of time, then proceed to 7, else to 6b
b. Sorry, you're stuck here. Proceed to 6b (infinite loop).
7. In Heaven (of course, it's number 7!)

Since repentance was not in the list I could not vote. A person does have to believe, but unless there is repentance the belief will not save. It takes repentance towards God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

xsearnold, that list was a good laugh. did you just make that up?
