Hello sinthesis.

I am using the strict definition from the Oxford Dictionary.

pronoun

[second person singular or plural] used to refer to the person or people that the speaker is addressing: are you listening?

Any complaints so far, I certainly hope not.

Now we will apply the strict definition to the following sentence.

15 “ The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him.

What do we learn from this sentence.

1) Jesus was only a prophet.

2) Jesus was raised for "who", the audience that Moses was addressing, "you".

What is good for the goose is good for the gander!

Matt. 10
[26] Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.
[27] What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

This thread surely is finding 'End Times' being broadcast as this above verse states! And all one needs to do is read the material of the posting ones! For they are doing the prophesied 'housetop' preaching theirselves!:chin

[27] What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

Thanks for the example Elijah674.

Now I will translate the verse for you.

Who was Jesus addressing?

That "generation" is who Jesus was addressing, those in earshot.

Not us of course, have you not understood how to interpret
Elijah674. Look up the meaning of "you".

rainbows,

Please note, many folks are labeled preterest. Yet they do not all have exactly the same views.... Hows that for a surprise. :lol Please read this...http://www.christianforums.net/showthread.php?t=13195

This discussion has been mild even so it is heading for a far preterism slant. If it continues i must move it to the preterism forum...

Thanks guys reba

I must say reba that I was once fooled by that baby face.

Not any more, you can't judge a person by their avatar.

I read your link on preterism, I think now I am even more
confused. Looks like a schism occurred amongst the
preterists. I am of Paul, I am of Peter, etc.

Definitions are incredibly difficult to formulate.

I love Jesus reba, that is my doctrine.

I must repost this so that stormcrow can tell me
if I have read it correctly.

I would be labeld a preterist. Yet I believe the Lord will return...

Amen and amen.... We can have difference but loving the Lord must not be one of them.. :yes

Hi, 'i' will check my 'memory bank' for you. I might be close to the verse!;)
Matt. 10:5-6 has 'Christ by COMMAND sending His disciples to the lost sheep of the house of Israel' (them only!) That answers your question with God's WORD.

OK: If they would not hear the MESSAGE??? verse 15 says that 'in the judgement' they would be judged far the worse that that of S.&G. That seems that we do not understand how God judges one, huh! Luke 12:47-48. And that answers your earshoot question!:sad

NOW: Who was it for? & does it have a REPEAT as Eccl. 3:15 DOCUMENTS?? Well that Eccl. verse says so, but again lets just check out what Christ documents also in verse 23 below. [[[AND PAY ATTENTION THAT HE CHRIST WAS ALREADY THERE DOING THE TALKING!]]] (No yelling, just EMPHASING)

Matt. 10
[23] But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, [[till the Son of man be come]].

And this has nothing to do with preterism for this reference is to the mark of the beast's worldwide Matt. 24:14's Three Angels Messages of Rev. 14:6-10 & then 666 enforcement & the Second Coming Bodily of Christ. Matt. 24:29!:clap

Hello reba, you must have received lots of attention from the boys
when you were young.

In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, preterist or futurist.

Absolute unity in the astounding revelation of Jesus the messiah.

Eschatology is so difficult to tie down, I have seen so many
interpretations. So many opinions, an array of endless twists
and turns.

I have a very soft attitude to eschatology through experience.

I still am very fond of post trib though, alas if a stronger view
is expressed I with avail of it. No loyalty to any creed or denomination
or theology. Flexibility is an asset in the Christian life.

Above all is Christ, His universe, His people, His eschatology,
His revelation is the reconciliation of the world to Himself.

I pretty much agree...

50+ years of dispensational teaching was hard to overcome...

The passage is talking about Joshua, who took Moses' place this side of the Jordan. Joshua is of course a type for Christ, but all true prophets are because they speak for God/Jesus. Your calling Jesus "only a prophet" is a little troubling. But immediacy is important here:

Deu 18:22 - When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that [is] the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, [but] the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

A two thousand year probability window would be a great gift to a false prophet.

It is clear that for Deuteronomy 18, 'you' are associated with those that heard God's voice in the assembly at Horeb.

I have an appointment this early am.. This thread will be cleaned up and maybe reopened when i return.

I think Jason should answer that! :lol

Well Vic, 'i' think that I am getting set up!:sad If I answer the question as I belive it, one of the 'mods' (Reba) will just most likely deleat my post.. might even jump back & take some more out???

But, 'i' will not sell my soul for a pot of pourage by not giving my answer to that question from the other post.:thumbsup
The whore of Rev. 17 is the Catholic church & the daughters are those who are coming back to her, even as we speek. (total pollution/wise of Matt. 6:24 below)

And the End Time Prophecy is being fullfilled. That is why we see Rev. 18:4's WARNING for Christ's SINCERE still ignorant ones to [COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE AND BE NOT 'PARTAKERS OF HER SINS'..'

Matt. 6
[24] No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

So the END finds just one of two masters.
