And my friend Theofilus brings up an interesting point. Frank Sutton, who plays Marine gunnery sergeant Vincent Carter, was a World War 2 Army veteran who had served in combat. He had failed the Marines' physical exam, so he had volunteered for the Army, and was honorably discharged as a sergeant.

Haha. You should post that in the "Post Yourself" thread, with perhaps a non-orangy/tan picture as well. :biggrin I don't think I've seen you post in there yet. You actually look similar to one of my friends in Northern Alabama (perhaps minus a few shades of brown/orange :lol).

Perhaps without skin I would have enjoyed my night after staying outside in the sun on Crab Island for hours in Destin, Florida this past summer a little bit more. I was so sunburned afterward it woke me up at 1:00 am and my body felt like it had fireants crawling all over it and I was shaking. So I took a 30 minute swim (which sent my body into further chills) but it helped a little bit. My uncle who was getting to bed late as well at our rented condo must have wondered why in the world I was swimming at 1:30 in the morning. :lol

What else would you be doing at that time?
 
I'm still bouncing around after watching the last lift-off of the space shuttle Discovery. Talk about a thriller. If something went wrong, the flight could only be delayed five minutes or they wouldn't be able to rendezvous with the space station. So of course, something went wrong.

They "held" the countdown at T minus 5 minutes, but if the hold lasted more than five minutes it was over. Forty second left, and they fixed the problem--and then they couldn't get out of "Hold." With 1 3/4 seconds to spare, the countdown resumed, and five minutes later, Discovery took off in its last blaze of glory.

It will make a wonderful display at the Smithsonian Institute after this flight.

i thought i would never say this. i wish we didnt stop the program as our role in space is uncertain
 
I am in painful agreement with President Obama. The current plan had been to use existing technology to return to the moon and then go for Mars and Venus. Obama changed everything, insisting that we must develop new technology. In the long term, I feel that is a better plan.
