in the bible, God talked out loud to many people, told them things in dreams or just plain talked to them in the open. how come God doesnt talk to us anymore like he did in the bible? i dont mean he doesnt speak to us now, but its more in the heart and in faith that he communicates, but remember when God talked to moses and abraham and all that? why doesnt he talk to us like that now these days? not since Jesus time has he done anything like that. what does the bible say about this? just curious.

Joh 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

I hear my Lord every day. Justr because I don't hear Him audibly does not mean He is not speaking - it means we are not listening

The Lord speaks to us now as much as he did in the beginning with Adam. It requires faith and belief in him to hear him and he speaks in various ways. Though I will say in my experience it comes when seeking him with a sincere heart. I have heard his voice and received his messages in various forms. He speaks a lot by putting it on our heart what he wants. and many miss this completely. :study

You do hear God's voice. and know your shepherd. You're answer is perfect and truthful. You made me smile at your response. Good for you.
Our King comes soon and we will be in constant speaking with him. He will guide us through the turbulent times that are coming that brings him in to take us out of this world to reign with him Rev 20:6. as his Priest and Kings forever and ever. Amen. Trust him as he separates us from the wicked and lost and leaves them here for his wrath. :pray

God does whatever He wants - He only talked to Solomon twice...

I am already past that - and usually terrified about the whole ordeal and fail miserably in the aftermath - maybe it was better that He doesn't.... less liability.

I get what you're asking, and it's a question worth answering. How come since Christ came, God never speaks to us in an audible "out loud" voice, like the sort you could tape record and playback?

Part of the Answer lies with the Holy Spirit. Before Christ came to die on the cross, the Holy Spirit didn't permanently indwell God's people. Because of this, they didn't have that 24/7 hotline to God as we do today. God spoke audibly because without the Holy Spirit within them, verbal communication and miracles were the only methods of communication with the Lord.

After Christ died for our sins, We received the Holy Spirit within our hearts. Because of this, when God wants to speak with us, he does it through the Holy Spirit, since that's one of the reasons He gave us the Holy Spirit. And because we have the Spirit within us, we no longer need to hear the audible voice of God.

Having said that, God can still speak out loud if he so chooses. For example, The voice of God that Saul heard on the road to Damascus was heard by those with him as well. However, it seems to me that God now will only speak audibly to those who don't have the Holy Spirit (e.g. the unsaved).

Interestingly, one of my roommates back in the college days claimed that he heard the audible voice of God, which was why he came to Christ. He was into about every sin you could be in, and one day sitting on an empty bus heading to the bus station, he said he heard what had to be God telling him to get off the bus. He pulled the cord, and got off at the next stop, which was interestingly enough directly in front of a local evangelical church. Now, whether you believe my friend's story or not (knowing him, I believe him, but it would be understandable for others to be skeptical), it goes to illustrate the point that God still speaks out loud, but he seems to save it only for converting the unsaved.

Hope that helps any.

Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

I don't know about anyone else, but God speaks to me all the time, all day long. And even wakes me up at times to pray for someone. HE constantly corrects my speach/thoughts/actions/attitude, the list goes on. I clearly know HIS voice.

HE told me my daughter was pregnant all [now 3] times before she even knew. With my first born granddaughter Chazz/AKA Butterbean HE told me. With my grandson Jaidyn/AKA Peepers, I had the truck pulled in the front yard to unload groceries, and I heard something behind me and when I turn to see it was my daughter Brand, and when I turned back around to grab a bag, "CLEARLY" HE spoke and said she's with child. I then walked up to her, put my hand on her tummy, and asked her "when we're you going to tell me you're pregnant?" She said I'm not, and I said Oh yes you are the Lord just spoke it on me. She said I won't call God a liar, but I'm not aware that I am, and I said well lets go get a prenancy test from the store. POSITIVE!!!!

Well about 2 1/2 months ago, the Lord spoke it again to me that she's pregnant again...told my christain best friend, and my husband [so he wouldn't have a heart attack] since they live with us. Gail told me well honey time will tell or she'll tell you. Well, I waited, and waited, and waited, and finally 3 weeks ago I said Brand I need you to go and take a pregnancy test cause the Lord told me over two months ago you were pregnant. And I need to know if I'm walking in the Spirit or the flesh. She got mad and said I'm not pregnant, if I was pregnant I would know. I've given birth to two children, mom I think I would know if I was pregnant. I've been having periods, and I could'nt be pregnant, I don't feel nothing inside. I said honey some women have had periods while pregnant the first couple of months.

So I told her to go to the doctor and get tested. Guess what? I'm having my third grandchild coming into the world, being knitted together in the womb by God Almighty. NO ONE can tell me that my Heavenly Father dont speak to me! HE speaks to me daily on alot of things about myself and about others so I know how to pray specificly and percisely, not to condem or condon but how to pray my prayers right through the devils road blocks.

I've never had a problem hearing HIS voice with my spiritual ears!

Rick - Good text.

Thanks,

If we open our spiritual ears he will talk to us in many different ways and not always the same for everybody.

The words of God always explains everything as Hebrews is. Jesus, Son of God, speaks to us in these last Days. Know we are in the Last Days for Jesus is speaking mightily to us all, we who have ears hear our king's voice. Praise the Lord God Almighty there is no other. amen :salute

I have to agree with this and add that we now have His word right there for us to read, any time, any place. His word is the Living Word. It speaks to us all the time. We just have to listen for that still. soft voice.

God has not abandon his children, he speaks to us all in various ways, the Lord is very active in our life, only most of the time, we are to hardened in our hearts to hear him speaking.

When he sends affliction, he is speaking to us, but we just run to doctors and don't say to much to him except Please heal me. There is always something to learn in afflictions.
Got a little off topic here.

The Comforter, does a lot of work, but God still speaks audibly to people of His choosing, or He puts things in your mind.
