Why did the earth become form without form and void after it was made perfect by God?

The scripture says, " In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (Gen. 1:1-2).

Proof that the earth was made perfect: For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God Himself that formed the earth and made it; He hath established it, he created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else (Isa. 45:18).

Hi Brother iLOVE.
What you are asking is basically debated by many as the GAP theory.
Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Isa 45:18 For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens;
God Himself that formed the earth and made it; He hath established it, He created it not in vain, He formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

What happened to God’s inhabitable earth between Gen 1:1 & Gen 1:2?
Gen 1:2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Jer 4:23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

What is this light on the first day? The sun wasn’t formed until the fourth day. Gen 1:16.
Gen 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Gen 1:4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
Gen 1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

God created it first without any form and it was void of anything until God brought light to it and filled it with His creations ending with man to care for it all He created. It's like a sketcher that makes an outline and then fills in all the different parts.

Here are three questions:
1. Is there a time gap between creation and Adam where possibly God created other people that would have turned from Him?
2. Why did God tell Adam and Eve to replenish the earth in Genesis 1:28? To replenish would mean there was something that existed before it needed replenished. Where there other people on earth before Adam as how did Cain find his wife?
3. When Cain left the presence of God he went to a place already given a name called Nod and there he found his wife, Genesis 4:16, 17. Who gave Nod its name and where did Cain's wife come from as Cain and Abel were not married nor did they have any children when Cain left the presence of God?

Glad I wasn't the one holding the Etch-a-Sketch!
