The "Angel" who appeared to Muhammad

"He used to go in seclusion in the cave of Hira where he used to worship (Allah alone) continuously for many days before his desire to see his family. He used to take with him the journey food for the stay and then come back to (his wife) Khadija to take his food like-wise again till suddenly the Truth descended upon him while he was in the cave of Hira. The angel came to him and asked him to read. The Prophet replied, "I do not know how to read. The Prophet added, "The angel caught me (forcefully) and pressed me so hard that I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read and I replied, 'I do not know how to read.' Thereupon he caught me again and pressed me a second time till I could not bear it any more. He then released me and again asked me to read but again I replied, 'I do not know how to read (or what shall I read)?' Thereupon he caught me for the third time and pressed me, and then released me and said, 'Read in the name of your Lord, who has created (all that exists) has created man from a clot. Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous.'. Then Allah's Apostle returned with the Inspiration and with his heart beating severely." (Sahih Bukhari Volume 1, Book 1, Number 3)

The Angel pressed on Muhammad, and Muhammad was scared (His heart was beating severaly). What do Angels really say? "Fear not" (Luke 1:13, 1:30, 2:10).

Virgin Mary: Moses' Brother

In Arabic, the word for "Mary" can also be "Miriam". Who was Moses' father, and his siblings? Amram was his father, Aaron was his brother, and Miriam was his sister. (1 Chronicles 6:3).

According to the Qur'an, who was Mary's brother? Aaron (Surah 19:16-28).
While it can be a metaphorical sister, you can't tell me that it is a coincidence that Mary, who may be the literal sister of Aaron in the Qur'an, has a father with the same name as Aaron's father?
According to the Qur'an, who was Mary's father? Amram (Sura 66:12).
Did Mary live to be over 1,500 years old? No, Muhammad mixed up Miriam the sister of Moses with Miriam/Mary the mother of Jesus.

Allah Will Lead Over 2 Billion Christians To The Fires of Hell

Surah 4:157 says, "And [for] their saying, "Indeed, we have killed the Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, the messenger of Allah ." And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them. And indeed, those who differ over it are in doubt about it. They have no knowledge of it except the following of assumption. And they did not kill him, for certain.".

Why do people believe Jesus was crucifed and died? Because (According to the Qur'an) God tricked them. Could you blame Christianity on Paul? No, because to believe that Jesus rose from the dead, you'd have to believe that Jesus died, and according to the Qur'an, God tricked everyone into believing that. He also waited 600 years to correct everyone...

Simple you should not believe in Islam because it's such an hostile religion, you don't all any other faiths to intrude in Islam. Islam is not a religion op peace rather it's a religion of hate and violence. Jesus Christ is same yesterday and today and for ever. In his name demons still tremble, the sick are healed, and people are delievered. in the name of allah nothing happens. You just go on take guns and defend your god nothing happens when quran is preached. What is the proof that allah is a real god? Rather he is the idol god of arab. allah is a cult of nimrod, the son of semiramis, the moon goddess.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm not a muslim either.

Do you not think that - to an extent - all religions are hostile? Obviously that's going to be controversial in these forums, but you can't say that no one has ever been killed in the name of Christianity.
Allah is not the name of the muslim God. Allah is the word for God. 'Allahu Ackbar' literally means 'God is great'.

The reason I don't believe Islam is simple - it isn't Christianity.
Why does Christianity hold more weight than Islam?

I think religion is like a tool--tools have a purpose, but they can be misused. Sometimes to kill people, and some tools are more potentially dangerous than others. Humans seem to naturally look for conflict, so since many (most?) religions are about some kind of conflict this makes them very useful in promoting violence. Unfortunately so, but so nonetheless.

I will say that despite historical accounts in the Old Testament, no standing command exists for Christians to kill or cause violence. Jesus and Paul both state that the OT law is summed up under two basic purposes: love and respect God, love and respect others.
That said, the OT's historical accounts are pretty difficult to account for, and probably are the most common argument brought up against Christianity. It's been a few years since I really did any good research on the issue, but the answer basically lies in extenuating circumstances. Also, ancient Israel was a theocracy and their leaders took messages directly from God. We aren't a theocracy.

Anywho, this thread is about Islam. I know little about Islam, so just as I don't appreciate non-Christians acting like they know more about my religion than I do after practicing it since childhood and studying and researching it since my teens, I don't plan to say that I know Islam better than a practicing Muslim. There are peaceful Muslims and there are violent Muslims. The peaceful ones can live their lives as they see fit, the violent ones are as subject to the law as any other violent person.

Yes, people have been killed in the name of Christianity but one should also note that it goes against the teachings of Jesus, although not necessarily. Christianity was first spread through peaceful means, all the while Christians were being persecuted, whereas Islam was first spread through violence and the violence has hardly stopped. Once Christianity became politicized it then became a means to do harm to others.

We could also look at the Crusades which were a Christian response to Muslim aggression. Some things were done by misguided individual armies outside of just reclaiming land that Muslims had taken, such as killing Jews and the sacking of Constantinople, but this happens in all wars. But these things were strongly condemned by the Church. If Christian Crusaders hadn't taken back the land conquered by Islam, who knows, we might all be Muslim.

Allah is not the name of the muslim God. Allah is the word for God. 'Allahu Ackbar' literally means 'God is great'.
Actually, it's both. Allah is the Arabic word for God and also the name of God in Islam. Just Google "there is no God but Allah," for example.

Why does Christianity hold more weight than Islam?
Many reasons. One was given in the post right above yours--the NT was written by eyewitnesses or those very close to eyewitnesses, whereas there were no witnesses to the supposed revelation given to Muhammad. That revelation itself was given under suspicious circumstances.

And, as mentioned in a previous post, we certainly must consider the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Most everything we know comes from the NT, but Islam claims differently about the death and resurrection of Jesus, saying that someone else was substituted in his place. That idea comes some 600 years after Jesus, with no support for such a notion. In a similar vein is the Muslim claim that the Christian Scriptures had become so corrupted that they could not be trusted, hence why Christians are supposedly are wrong about Jesus' death and resurrection. Once again, there is no support for such a claim. So why believe a religion that came 600 years after Jesus that claims things so contradictory regarding his death and resurrection, especially when they can provide no support for their position, and all that based on the single claims of one man, Muhammad?

And on it goes. There simply is no reason to believe that Muhammad was a prophet of God and that he received any revelation from God.

It is my understanding of the history of the Crusades is that the Muslims, Jews, and Christians all lived together in peace in Jerusalem for about 500 yrs. each being free to practice their own religions. The Muslims conquered the Byzantines in order to take Jerusalem, not Jews or Christians. The Church of Rome decided they wanted custody of Jerusalem themselves. They paid men to come and capture the city, the pope promising them that all their sin would be forgiven them no matter what atrocities they committed. :neutral
So what I see is that power corrupts and greed for more power leads men to use any means whatsoever to satisfy it, including what is most precious to religious people, their religion.

Well, you are mistaken for the most part.

Huh. That's odd. It's doing it to me too. I read through it once and when I first posted the link here, it was fine. That's unfortunate. With something that old (2005), you would think they would open up access. That stinks. It was a really good read.

I noticed no one said that Allah actually means "The Moon god". When Mohammed was running around his people believed in a great many gods like the Greeks or Romans, but the strongest one was the Moon god, named Allah (like Zeus), so he said from now on they would believe in that god. So do not believe the lie that Allah is just another name for the Lord God, it most certainly is not, it is literally the name of some demon, no matter what people want us to believe about that it never changes the truth; Allah = a demon name.

I'll preface this by saying that I'm not a muslim either.

Why does Christianity hold more weight than Islam?
Another easy one - because it is the truth.
