The phrase, he who now restrains, is not found anywhere in scripture. The one that is taken out of the way is the man of sin; he is also called the beast.

At the end of the great tribulation the beast and the false prophet are thrown into the lake of fire (Rev 20:10).

2 Thes 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition

There are many that would have you believe that this man of lawlessness cannot be revealed until “he who now restrains” him is taken out of the way (2 Thes 2:7-8).

He who now restrains the true message revealed

2 Thes 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

The words, what withholdeth, actually refer to keeping or holding fast to something learned.

Hold fast, and keep what is learned, has nothing at all to do with he who now restrains (G 2722).

The ones who hear the Words of Christ, keep it, and bring forth fruit (Luke 8:15, 1 Cor 11:2).

Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Those who refer to “he who now restrains” are not even sure of the identity of this restrainer, because there is not any truth to this man made doctrine.

According to the many teachers, all believers are removed and taken to heaven according to the promise made to the church in Philadelphia (Rev 3:10). I will keep thee from the hour of temptation. But is this a pre-tribulation promise at all? Jesus didn't think so read on?

All who are truly in Christ are kept through the power of the Holy Spirit, and are able to endure until the end (Mat 24:13, Mark 13:13, john3:5, 14:17).

John 17:15-16 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

2 Thes 2:7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.

Many claim that there is a restrainer and that he who now restrains is the Holy Spirit, and state that this passage teaches of a pre-tribulational rapture of the church.

This convoluted thinking goes something like this. The Holy Spirit indwells the church, and if the Holy Spirit is removed, then the church must be gone as well.

A careful study of the Greek words in 2 Thes 2:7, tells a different story altogether.

The words, he who now, actually is in reference to one word. That word is now, henceforth or hereafter. The words he and who, are added inappropriately.

The word letteth, is inserted inappropriately. The correct word to be used is, hold fast or keep.

What Paul is saying here is that we are not to be deceived, as the mystery of iniquity is already working. But now hold fast to what you have been taught, until the one that works iniquity is taken out of the midst of you.

2 Thes 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

The beast, and the kings of the earth under his control, will attempt to make war against Christ and against his army (Rev 19:19-21).

2 Thes 2:9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders

The dragon or Satan is the one who gives power unto the beast (Rev 13:4).

2 Thes 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

God, Himself shall send them a strong delusion, that they should believe a lie. All who have pleasure in unrighteousness, that do not believe in the truth shall be judged by the very Word of God that they rejected (2 Thes 2:11-12, John 12:48).

GOD is clearly in control of when HE will pour out His wrath on a unbelieving Sinful unrepenting people of earth in those days. REV 11 is the last sign given and is a sign that can't be mistaken. IF any in those days has even a shred of Love for God and faith in JESUS they will give glory TO God but those who took joy in the killing of the two who serve the LORD of all the earth will be deceived by the angel of the abyss and His false prophet who acts in His behalf because they have not believed in God nor repented of their evil ways. They will worship the beast and his image and therefore go to their destruction along with the beast and false prophet. In fact not only do they not repent as Gods judgments are poured out onto the earth they curse God even though God has their lives in His hands. Like pharaoh their hearts will be hardened by their own sin.

The angel of the abyss is currently imprisoned (held back) until rev 11 Gods last warning has been given then the great tribulation will come as the beast will be released at the proper time at Gods will. AT the sounding of the 5th trump call of God. Sounded by Gods angel at Gods will.

Withholdeth and letteth are the same thing as restrain. What is being taught here is that the beast out of the sea who gives power and authority to the beast out of the earth are both controlled by Satan who is withholding right now and will unleash the two beast in his timing and will let them go forth to deceive the nations causing a great falling away from truth. This is already happening in the world, but yet a mystery of iniquity that many in the world refuse to see and understand.

The beast rises up out of the sea as the sea here is symbolic of people and nations as in a sea of humanity, Daniel Chapter 7:1-8; Revelation 17:15. This beast is the Luciferians political, economic and false religious system who gives its power and authority to the beast out of the earth who is the false prophet (son of perdition) who will cause a great falling away, but will be consumed by the spirit of the mouth of Christ when He returns as at that time both are cast into the lake of fire, 2 Thessalonians 2:1-12; Rev 19:11-21.

Rev 13:1-4
John saw a beast (beast is often referred to as nations in scripture) rise up out of the sea having seven heads and ten horns and upon his horns ten crowns, (crowns denotes Kings) and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.

(Notice how the word he in vs. 7 is used twice. It's not Christ who will be taken out of the way, but Satan only)

2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

You are writing off scripture as symbolic and assigning values not found in scripture. I doubt that started with you. So who are you following? There is no way you can be confident or assured of truth in such writing. It is why there is much confusion in regard to Rev. IN fact the angel of the abyss was defined in scripture as an angel .One who is locked in the abyss and is released at a set time in the future.

The beast out of the sea is and angel and the beast out of the earth is the angels false prophet who acts in behalf go the angel. The angel of the abyss is currently imprisioned.(held back)

Why would you think the Beast out of the Sea is an angel brother? I assume you mean a demon which is a fallen angel, but that doesn't really work either because Apollyon is of the seven but is the 8th, meaning he was assigned over these seven kingdoms but he himself is not a head else the Beast would have 8 heads (hes a power/principality).The Beast out of the Sea is a conglomerate of all the Kingdoms that have Conquered or ruled Israel. The last one is a MAN who becomes the Beast when he conquers Jerusalem for 42 months. The Beast out of the land is a false prophet. Out of the Sea means Gentile nations, out of the Land means he is a Jew, which means he will be a false rabbi/prophet. He must preach therefore that this is the messiah which was to come.

As per the restrainer, the word letteth (Greek word KATECHO) means to hold back/bind/restrain/chain. So the Holy Spirit is not taken out of the earth, but he is taken out of the way, meaning he stops blocking his path. The Holy Spirit has been binding this event, stopping it from happening until the Church departs, then and only then is the Man of Sin allowed to come forth onto the scene/Jesus opens the First Seal. So the Church departs and then the Anti-Christ is revealed, before the Day of the Lord.

The holy spirit is not taken away - why do you think that? There are still christians alive on the earth.
I believe the angel of the abyss is the beast. And that beast has a false prophet who acts in behalf of the beast and sets up an image of the beast and forces people great and small rich and poor to worship the image of the beast. The "beast" that come out of the sea. And the "beast" that come out of the earth. A man the false prophet.

That is not what I said or meant to say, I said he stops blocking his path, letteth means binds she he who letteth (binds) will let (bind) until he be taken out of the way (stops blocking him from coming forth). The Holy Spirit does not leave the earth as some suppose. Since letteth means to bind, it means the Holy Spirit that binds will stop binding after the church departs (or is Raptured).

Apollyon in my opinion, is not the Little Horn/Anti-Christ/Beast, that is a Man. He is a Beast that was of the Seven, that means he was, IS NOT, yet is. Many do confuse the 8th Beast as the Seventh Beast Head, but he is of the Seven so that means he is over all seven as a principality, demon spirits do not become "physical kingdoms" but they are placed over certain regions. He s over the seven thus he is of the seven, but there is only seven not eight earthly kingdoms. Hes like a general over them so to speak, just like Satan is over him. I realize many people have the 8th Beast as the Little Horn Beast, so its no bigge a lot of people believe this.

Follow the Seven Beasts or six and the coming seventh. Apollyon (the Destroyer) was appointed to destroy Israel/Jewish peoples it seems. With Egypt he failed, with Assyria he took away the 10 tribes but failed in the end, with Babylon he took them captive but Persia conquered them, then ultimately set the Jews free even though they did rule Israel for a time, Greece was over Israel as was Rome. When Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple Apollyon was locked in the pit, thus he was, IS NOT (locked in the pit), yet is because he will be loosed again.

God bless. I have always been interested in this subject so I am just offering my 2 cents.

The false prophet who acts in behalf of the beast is a man. The angel of the abyss is just that a angel and since that angel is imprisoned a fallen angel as God is just and doesn't imprison without just cause. So we dot agree. The beast deceives the world into following Him as God allows a powerful delusion a king who is a master of deceit. There will be 10 nations that align with the false prophet. The false prophet or beast that come up from the earth was successful in taking down the two witnesses where no one else could. As it was Gods set purpose for that 1260 day testimony to be fulfilled. The world will take note and state "who can make war with the beast". The angel of the abyss is released at the sounding of the 5th trump. Still a future event. Rev 11 is then a sign that can't be mistaken.

I'm not following anything other than what scripture says word for word. Scripture is symbolic where it needs to be and literal where it needs to be as the Holy Spirit reveals all for our understanding.. Revelations is both literal and symbolic. I've already explained what the beast out of the sea and out of the earth are so I will not give that again.

The angel of the abyss spoken of in Rev 9:1-11 is Apollyon who is king over the bottomless pit that was given the key meaning Gods authority and power was given him to open the pit and gives these angels that are transformed into locust their authority to go forth and torment men for five months. Apollyon means destroyer in Greek and destruction in Hebrew as he is known as Abaddon in Hebrew. He is an angel of God that He uses throughout the OT and here in vs. 1, 11 to bring about Gods commands when it comes to the destruction of people of disobedience, Exodus 12:23; 2Kings 6:14-18; Proverbs 15:11, 12; Jeremiah 4:7; Daniel 10:13; 1 Corinthians 10:10.

I believe chapters rev 17 and rev 13 reveal Gods meaning.
The angels in the OT are those that remained faithful to God. Not those who curse God. The angel of the abyss is clearly fallen and imprisioned.

Satan gives His authority to the beast. REV 13:2

I don't think we will agree.

Yes, Satan gives his authority to the beast out of the sea and the beast out of the earth.

Apollyon is king over the locust in Rev 9:11 and it does not say he was chained in the pit, but that he was the angel of the bottomless pit and this is one reason I believe God gave him the keys to the bottomless pit to open it giving the locust commands of God. I believe it is God that gives him command over the locust to not hurt the grass or the trees, but that the locust should hurt those who did not have the seal of God on them. The locust were not allowed to kill these people, but only torment them in hopes they would repent and turn back to God, Rev 11:4-6. If Apollyon was not an angel of God, but that of Satan there would be no purpose to torment those who did not have Gods seal as they already belonged to Satan.

Rev 11:4-6 doesn't need a purpose that is the nature of a destroyer. A murderer ,a liar,a thief. Apollyon is not of God but is inn the same league as Satan.
THIS ANGEL will curse God and those who love and worship GOD.
The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise its authority for forty-two months. 6It opened its mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. Clearly NOT an ANGEL in service TO GOD. But a fallen angel hence the angel is imprisoned in the abyss until the appointed time .

The purpose of satan and the beast and all their armies visible and invisible is to try and change the set times (judgment) against them. Jesus will defeat them at the battle of God almighty. rev 16:15-16

I believe you meant Rev 9:4-6 not Rev 11:4-6. What do you mean it doesn't need a purpose in Rev 9:4-6, you have to read vs. 1- 12 as it's all Gods purpose during the time of the 5th trumpet sounding during the time of Gods great wrath being poured out into the world as this being the first woe of three woes unto all that are not sealed by God. The whole purpose of God is to have these people repent and come back to His grace before the door of Salvation is closed forever. The angel of the bottomless pit in Rev 9 has nothing to do with the beast out of the sea in Rev 13. The locust (Gods purpose who gave them power) has a king over them, an angel named Apollyon (Gods destroying angel) who gives the commands of God to not hurt the grass or the trees, but to only hurt (torment) those who have not the seal of God.

You can believe it or reject it as this is what I read in scripture and not mans interpretation of it. Some religions teach Apollyon is Satan and some religions teach he is an angel sent by God. Religion does not teach me, but the words of God only.

Th purpose of the 5th trumpet is part of Gods wrath. Because His patience is at and end.
1st trumpet through the last trumpet (7th)when this kingdom of the world becomes the kingdom of God and His Christ
Rev 8:7 NIV The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.
AT the 5th trumpet the beast us released upon the world. The destroyer angel of the abyss. woe woe woe upon the earth.
