Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20: Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21: Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Uh, . . . . . . . . why are you singling out witchcraft??? :-?

Did you know that the "witchcraft" talked about in the Bible is not the witchcraft that we know today?

What are you even talking about???? Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, hatred, wrath, strife, envyings, murders, drunkenness, are FAR more prevailent than witchcraft! :-? And of these, witchcraft is the LEAST dangerous to a society!

All of those are FROM the devil. The devil is the father of witchcraft. Witchcraft is quite dangerous, and prevalent. Don't switch the spotlight, either. It won't work.

20: Despise not prophesyings.
21: Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22: Abstain from all appearance of evil.

I'm attempting to turn this "spot light" off! We don't need another "witch hunt" when there are FAR worse things out there in the world. I don't think you even know what it means to be a "witch", or even what those in witchcraft/wicca are about!

My brother and his wife are witches and they are FAR FAR from being dangerous to anyone!!! :x

There are people out there getting drunk and killing sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, etc. . . . Don't talk to me about how "dangerous" witchcraft is!

It usually comes down to someone saying we Christians are singling out a specific sin. We do not. When adultery is brought up, it's said we are singling them out; when homosexuality is brought up, it's said also. Pick a sin, any sin and we'll see plenty of Christians come out to rebuke it.

There are those in the world whose job is to enforce the law. Yes, some of those law enforcement people may be Christians. It isn't really a Christian's 'job' to know what wicca is about; it's our 'job' to know what it's not about. It's not about doing the will of God. We Christians are just as concerned (maybe more) about the spiritual world and it's laws as we are about the physical world and the laws of the land.

Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

No matter how nice one appears, it means little.

2 Cor 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
2 Cor 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
2 Cor 11:15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

I'm sure your brother is a good person by the world's standards but if one isn't trusting in the Lord, who is the sole giver of grace and salvation, then it's all in vain. Your brother may have more of an influence on you than you'd want to admit.

Let God turn all that around for you and be the one doing the influencing.

Just because "white" witchcraft, wicca, sorcery, is being practiced does not mean it is okay to practice it.

My brother prays to Jesus (yes, of the Bible). He also asks things of Angels as well. I don't follow his path, but I know he isn't openly against Jesus. He believes different than Christianity, yes. He believes that, if you have a "God the Father", and "God the Son", then where's the "Goddess the Mother". He happens to believe she exists.

There are cults in the world that pray to "Jesus" and may appear christian when they're not. They are forgeries, counterfeits, illusions and profit nothing. Satan loves deception.

My brother said that, when he was young, he felt that God spoke to him about something. Fast forward to a few years ago, he said he felt the same thing from God telling him that this was the path for him.

That may be the problem with religion. It is WAY to easy to "get a word from God", then to determine if it really was or not.

God has not made it difficult for us to know him or know His voice. Make yourself familiar with Scripture, obey Him and you cannot stray too far afield!

Psalm 119:11
I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you.

He was certain (and IS certain still) that it was God who spoke to him a few years ago.

I haven't read this entire thread, but I have read enough to know that your brother is not in touch with Jesus Christ.

We cannot serve two masters. Serving the "goddess" is serving Satan, and so, he cannot be in a relationship with Christ at the same time. The Bible says that if we serve anoither, then we actually hate God. So....

Your brother may be certain about having heard from God, but he is certain of other things that are just not so. That's proof enough.

Satan himself portrays himself as an angel of light in order to deceive. That's his game! He excels at it! When a foolish man will enter into his game--he will always lose...except when Jesus is invited in to the rescue!

So even though he knows for a fact that it was God speaking to him, . . . it wasn't. Okay, how does one "judge" a person on what they hear from God? We can't say "the Bible", because we have WAY too many varying denominations that read the bible compeletely different than another denomination.

Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Galatians 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Galatians 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

I just don't know of any other way of reading the above "completely different". Looks pretty forthright to me.

1Samuel 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

How many ways is there to interpret "For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft".

Malachi 3:5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

Alabaster isn't the one judging against witchcraft, or anyone else for that matter. It's God Himself doing the judging.

There's no mention of color whether black, white, green or purple. Witchcraft is witchcraft. No way around that.

I've heard on more than one occation that the "witchcraft" mentioned in the Bible isn't the same as what you find in today's society. The first step would be to DEFINE what the "witchcraft" mentioned in the Bible is actually refering to.

But the fact remains that the scriptures are to be our foundation for truth. If He claims to pray to the God (Christ) of the Bible, then either you base your foundation all on it or none at all. I fail to see how 'our mother the goddess' can be found anywhere in scripture. Now, your brother may not give a hoot about the Bible as it is a Hebrew/Christian document and may not be the specific 'god' that he claims to serve. However, my question then would be...with what parameters does he define who or what God is?

There are those who say that "The Holy Spirit" would be the feminine aspect of the Godhead. Some manuscripts use the name "Sophia". This is what I've gained from discussions with him and his wife.

There is even a Coven of Christ Ministries and they can be found on the internet (their webpage).

As far as "basing your foundation on ALL of it", we all agree that no longer do we stone to death unruly sons, . . . that we wear clothing with more than one material fabric, . . . . no longer eat kosher-ly, . . .etc (many laws in Leviticus and Numbers). I find it intersting that we can agree with not stoning adulterers to death and killing witches, yet it was given as a commandment. Isn't that part of the "all of it"?
