No title yet. This is my first poem, and though it wasn't initially intended as a Messianic work, it's quiet evident that it ended up that way. I guess the poem has dual meaning: on the personal level and in the grander context of Christ. I started this when I was bored once and it's gone through a billion transitional forms of refinement. There are some places that still need smoothing out and other parts I don't like at all --they're just place holders for structure. I'll eventually go ahead and edit them away gradually. I'm pretty sure some parts of this look weird or inconsistent and if you notice them, you probably know what I'm talking about. Oh, and the stanza scheme is random and uneven. I'll eventually have to deal with that too. I'm open to the worst kind of criticism and the best kind of advice. The "window" of inspiration comes and goes and seldom lasts. Idk when the next time I'll feel like working on this will be.

This life is in great travail.
Like a screeching train it tempts it's rail.
As the moon wanes; the stars wail.
My soul waxes exceedingly frail.
Will any stand witness to recount the tale?

Only the wicked prosper in this land.
They consider us as a grain of sand.
When we stumble, they offer no hand.
With venom they pleasure an unjust demand.

Shamelessly, they cause much mourning.
Who can heed the shadow of warning?
Abiding without compassion;
no mercy; no love; no kind ration.

They snicker and sneer;
Abandoned in fear.
There are none who draw near.
When I call out, who will give ear?

Despised, broken, torn;
Mocked and drown in scorn,
Without esteem in which to adorn.
Every day we die; Every night we're reborn.

This burden is too heavy to bear.
We wander aimlessly in our despair.
Without hope and scattered as sheep gone astray
Without a shepherd: we have lost our way

Who will deliver us from this valley of sorrows?
Verily, these eyes shall see the dawn of many tomorrows

And yet, though my spirit be in exile;
Taking refuge in that we suffer only for a while;
Through the promise was conquered bitter revile;
Persuaded now, our apathy transfigures into half a smile.
Satisfying the zeal of life's hidden trial.
A sepulchre now consummates my bones; Fate's seal final.

Now as the sun sets on this letter;
The curse is lifted, light as a feather.
Finally free from the flesh altogether
Behold the end of this mortal tether.
Alas! My salvation endures forever!
