When no observation has been made for any species evolving into another, how can the story of evolution is based on observations? Actually, evolution is based on speculations.
When no observation has been made for the actual murder, how can they solve the murder based on other observations?

Which is why still innocent people are sometimes wrongly put in jail for the crimes not committed by them.

  • Which is why India has a thumb-rule of sometimes allowing criminals to escape because their focus is making sure NEVER an innocent must be punished.
  • Which is why US has a thumb-rule of sometimes allowing innocents to suffer because their focus is making sure NEVER a terrorist must go unpunished.

There is a huge difference, however.

When a discovery is made in science, it gets peer-reviewed. This happens rather quickly in The Age of the Internet. The greatest minds in the world agree that evolution is a fact.

When a crime is committed, the available data is not sent to every crime investigator around the world. If the local authorities are sloppy, or God forbid corrupt, the truth has a more difficult time surfacing in those areas.

Huge difference . . . and I mean huge.

That is a small group of incorrect "scientists" that have huddled together in their untruth. The Age of Information is still in its infancy. That is why these incorrect people are still able to sell enough books to the rapidly-shrinking gullible population to make it worth their effort.

How intelligent are you than God the Father?
What evidence do you require in believing God the Father as a Christian?

(Genesis 5:1) .. In the day that God created man, He made him in the likeness of God.

Felix,

We are not talking about "how smart we are compared toThe father".

God is smarter than us. But are bible literalist the type of person Iwant to follow? Are they smarter?

Jesus showed me that "no" is the answer. I am not sure, so I pray every day for moreguidance.

But are bible literalist the type of person Iwant to follow? Are they smarter?

Sorry, I don't understand this.

Also., your prayers are in vain if you pray without believing. Have faith and pray.

(Matthew 21:22) "And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive."

There's no word in the Bible that says the Gospels are metaphorical. But there is that verse I quoted saying God's time frame is incomprehensible for us. So what He calls a "day" may not be what we call a day. His 6 + 1 days of creation may have been six steps of creation that lasted billions of years, or 10^-34 seconds.

... and, by assuming that "yowm" infers billions of years in order that Genesis can be supported by Science, we find that the Histroy of the Earth, indeed, is maked six times in the Geological Record:

Of course, both sides will oppose such a Synthesis and prefer to maintain the Social Dialect between Science and Religion for personal and organizational reasons whose benefits they enjoy.

Then show me where in the bible it says billions or millions of years?

yowm.jpg

2 Peter 3:8
But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day, (yowm).

Psalm 90:4For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch, (yowm), in the night.

I am new here and have been reading the posts. I am a Christian and I also believe in an old earth.
The first thing I am going to say is to look at Psalm 19:1-2
"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky proclaims the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour out speech; night after night they communicate knowledge."
This means that the observation of creation calls for an acknowledgement of God's existence. The wisdom and power and glory of God are displayed in what he has made. What he has made will reveal itself to us and through this knowledge we will learn about his creation. When we deny what we see because we adhere to an interpretation that causes conflict between God's word and God's creation, we are refusing to see what he is trying to teach us.
God's word is inerrant, God's creations will not mislead us, so if there's a conflict between the Bible and science the problem is not with either one of them, but with our interpretation.
I believe whoheartedly in our Lord and love him with all my heart, soul and mind. I believe that science reveals God's creation. So to attach my faith to one or the other is to close my worldview to the truth. Hundreds of years ago many people lost their faith because Galileo discovered that the earth revolves around the sun. They denied it and what did it get them. Those people lost the faith needlessly if only they would open their minds.
The Bible is inerrant but it is not a science book. You won't find answes to scientific problems there. Science books are not spiritual. They deal with findings using the scientific method. So to attach your belief on something like "evolution is a lie" or the earth is 6000 years old is really doing a disservice to God and his creation. He wants us to learn. Evolution seems to be a "cuss word" among some Christians. Why? Does it matter whether God took 6 days or 14.8 billion years to create something. I don't think so. Either way, the creation is incredible. Look at what he achieved. If you build a doll house for your daughter at the age of 4 and tell her, when she asks how you got it, I created it out of thin air. Then as she grows she realizes that was impossible, that you must have built it over a few years. Will she love you less for it? Don't think so. So what does it matter if it's a few days or billions of years. Look at what nature (science) has revealed and thank the Lord for revealing the truth to you.
I have no problems believing in the Genesis account and old earth. That does not make me a non-believer. On the contrary, it makes me love the Lord more for his painstaking creation in order that I may live. God bless you all.

Stone-yarder. Good article. Doesn't change anything. I am a firm believer in Intelligent Design. I believe every creature on earth has been designed by God. But the Bible doesn't speak of the method God used to design all the living creatures on earth. I still don't understand why you think evolution and belief in the Lord are mutually exclusive.
Life was started on this earth when God designed the first microorganisms. I believe all living creature's DNA were designed b God. If you know what DNA looks like, you know it looks very much like programming. God gave all living creatures generic diversity, and due to this genetic diversity when a species undergoes many subtle genetic changes it may not look like what it started with.
You're ignoring so many Bible verses (like Psalm 19.1-2) when you refuse to look at science, even though proof is staring you right in the face.
I have heard of so many young Christians who have lost their faith because when they see certain scientific discoveries, it makes them quesiton interpretations of the Bible like yours.
As for Adam and Eve, I believe they are who they are because Jesus spoke of them. But instead of being stubborn and adhering to an interpretation of the Bible that clashes with God's natural order, I try to find others that may satisfy both. After all, nature is God's creation and if you don't believe what science discovers about it, you are not believing in God's desire to teach you about nature.
Science is not perfect, and many times some theories are proven wrong or altered due to new discoveries.
So don't tell me I have to chose between science and God, because that is rather arrogant and presumes you know everything. If you refuse to believe in what you see, that is your prerogative. But you and nobody else can comment on my relationship with my Lord Jesus Christ, because of you do you are saying you know my heart and only God knows that.
