What does it mean when we say that God is holy?

The Bible teaches that God is a holy God. The idea behind the concept of holiness is “separation.” It comes from a word meaning “to separate or cut off.” God is separate, or cut off, from everything that is sinful and evil—He cannot tolerate sin. John wrote this truth in figurative language.

This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all (1 John 1:5).

Only God is holy. The main idea behind holiness is separation. God is separate from all sin. He is perfect in His nature. His character is one of flawless moral perfection. Holiness has a positive and negative side. On the positive side He always does what is right. On the negative side He is separate from all sin. Believers are commanded to be holy as God is holy.

Worshiping God is our allegiance to Him in all reverence to His name.

Ray Boltz
I Pledge Allegiance To The Lamb
CHORUS:
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb
With all my strength
With all I am
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb

I have heard how Christians long ago
Were brought before a tyrant's throne
They were told that he
Would spare their lives
If they would renounce
The name of Christ
But one by one they chose to die
The Son of God, they would not deny
Like a great angelic choir sings
I can almost hear their voices ring

CHORUS

Now the years have come
And the years have gone
And the cause of Jesus still goes on
Now our time has come
To count the cost
To reject this world
To embrace the Cross

And one by one let us live our lives
For the One who died to give us life
Till the trumpet sounds on the final day
Let us proudly stand and boldly say

CHORUS

To the Lamb of God who bore my pain
Who took my place
Who wore my shame
I will seek to honor His commands
I pledge allegiance to the Lamb

CHORUS (repeat)

Hi Tatilina and welcome to CF :wave2

This song fills me so full of the Holy Spirit when I sing it. I get goosebumps all over. Sometimes I even cry when I think of all Jesus went through for His great love for us.

I also like Let The Fire Fall by Carmen. Use to sing this in Church with two other girls and it was all I could do to keep from falling to the ground. We said we needed doll stands when we sang that song as the anointing of the Holy Spirit was so strong on us.

I haven’t heard that song before, but I will definitely check it out! Thank you for the recommendation, I’m sure it will be a powerful worship song. Worshipping God is so much fun! It’s like getting your battery recharged!!!

Rom 12:1-2 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Presenting your body to the Lord is to yield it to His use and, therefore, to do His will.

Imitate Christ who was obedient to the Father up to and including the death on the cross.

That's your proper worship.

Everyday
When we awaken
When we rise and shine
When we work, when we play
When we socialize
When we go shopping
When we help someone in need
