conjugal rights in prison if your spouse was there.

I recently saw a video where Brazil has given conjugal rights to married inmates. The video showed a Brazilian woman going to the prison. The guard sent her in, you could see by the look on the woman's face that she was excited...:tongue but just a while later the guard was tapping on the door...time is up..Lol.:lol

I doubt very much I would want this...I am a very private person and the thought of knowing that someone would be knocking on my door anytime would be uncomfortable to say the least. I like to take my time and don't like hurrying nothing..:):yes..But on the other hand, since I have no choice it would be better to have something than nothing.

Farouk the door is closed, noone would be able to see you:tongue:lol:lol

...but some people would still feel self-conscious about going in and out in this way for a short period.

There's also the aspect of the link with ongoing companionship and affection.

For some people it may not matter.:sad

I see nothing wrong with this between a husband and wife as it would also help the stress factor on the part of the inmate and also hopefully help them from sexually violating another inmate. The inmate would usually go through a strip search before entering the conjugal room before their husband/wife would be allowed to enter as they search for any contraband and also the possible strip down of the spouse before they enter the room. It would be hard to have a time limit thinking in the back of your mind that the guard could come at anytime, but as you said some time is better than none.

Well, I guess I still wonder about its proper context within ongoing companionship and affection.

Come on Farouk there is nothing improper about this. You might think it improper in the context...BUT what if you were the one in jail. Wouldn't you feel good that you can still be close to your spouse.. Perhaps this could ensure that they do not get involved with someone and give you something to look forward despite how short the time span... I am just saying. It is something I would prefer not to have to do...BUT I would still be thankful despite the conditions.

The jail aspect; the privacy aspect; the context of ongoing affection, etc.

I'll address the privacy aspect first that the couple are in a private room just as they would be in their own home with a closed door, except at home you do not have a guard standing at your door. The jail aspect can be intimidating to some as per what is seen on TV in it's reality, but the room they use is separate from the wards they are housed on. I'm not sure what you mean by ongoing affection so I will say this that even though he/she is paying for a crime they are still married and their mate chooses to stand by their side in all aspects of the marriage.

What I meant was, it's not something that can be turned on and off like a faucet, while a warder waits outside the door with a stopwatch.

But I guess I've said all that I can say about this, really.

A person who wants intimate relations with a spouse should keep them selfs out of jail.
I most certainly agree, but if I were ever to find myself in jail and they were going to allow me the opportunity.....well....I'm gonna take it.:)

If Steve were to wind up in prison for something that I wouldn't divorce him over, then I would pretty much feel it would be my wifely responsibility to do so. Same as if I were imprisoned for something that he didn't divorce me over.

It would fall under the "worse" part of "for better or for worse" to be sure....

Which brings up a whole nuther question.... what crimes could a spouse committ that would constitute grounds for divorce? Pedophilla certainly fits the bill... but what about a "white collar" crime... embezzlement or tax evasion? I don't think the Scriptures say one way or the other, so it would fall under the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

I would be vastly disappointed and lose my respect and love for Steve if he was caught embezzling money, convicted and imprisoned... but I don't know if I could divorce him in good conscious over it. It seems as if forgiveness and restoration would be in order...
