You may want to rephrase your poll question, it doen't make much sense...too many variables. First I would suggest you explain why the child is being removed in the first place. Plus, you are not taking into consideration the Justice system already provides penalties for unethical conduct by doctors.

Old enough to know ALL murder is wrong.
How about you?

If you just came in here to cut on me what is the point? Answer the question or don't... I really don't care for you to come in here just to put me down. It’s pointless
I wasn't putting you down, sometimes knowing your age can help understand your point of veiw.
I'll be 35 in April, though I rarely act my age. :biggrin

Would you call this abortion

DrDiotte,

Ok I think I know what you mean, but maybe not so here goes.

If by a law you mean a doctor for some reason had to remove a child from the mother before it was fully mature and the child was alive then the doctor in my opinion should do all in his power to save the child, or I'd say yes it was an abortion. There have been abortions where the child has come out crying and was throw in the trash this I don't just call abortion , But Murder!!

Good points Judy...

I think this thread is starting on a skewed premise.

You summed it up perfectly...

"In every abortion procedure the intent is to kill the unborn child!!! "

The bottom line always clears the air and brings the proper focus to an issue...

would you call this abortion

Judy,
Sorry I must have read what you wrote the wrong way. I thought you meant all abortions result in death. :-?

I'm with Vic. Doctors are already bound by the Hypocratic oath to try and save every life possible. So why do we Even have a bortion to begin with?

True.

I found this interesting in reference to the Hippocratic oath:

Below from http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/doctors/oath_classical.html (With emphasis added)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hippocratic Oath -- Classical Version
I swear by Apollo Physician and Asclepius and Hygieia and Panaceia and all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will fulfil according to my ability and judgment this oath and this covenant:
To hold him who has taught me this art as equal to my parents and to live my life in partnership with him, and if he is in need of money to give him a share of mine, and to regard his offspring as equal to my brothers in male lineage and to teach them this art - if they desire to learn it - without fee and covenant; to give a share of precepts and oral instruction and all the other learning to my sons and to the sons of him who has instructed me and to pupils who have signed the covenant and have taken an oath according to the medical law, but no one else.
I will apply dietetic measures for the benefit of the sick according to my ability and judgment; I will keep them from harm and injustice.
I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect. Similarly I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy. In purity and holiness I will guard my life and my art.
I will not use the knife, not even on sufferers from stone, but will withdraw in favor of such men as are engaged in this work.
Whatever houses I may visit, I will come for the benefit of the sick, remaining free of all intentional injustice, of all mischief and in particular of sexual relations with both female and male persons, be they free or slaves.
What I may see or hear in the course of the treatment or even outside of the treatment in regard to the life of men, which on no account one must spread abroad, I will keep to myself, holding such things shameful to be spoken about.
If I fulfil this oath and do not violate it, may it be granted to me to enjoy life and art, being honored with fame among all men for all time to come; if I transgress it and swear falsely, may the opposite of all this be my lot.
Quite Interesting If you ask me.
If a law was written that made it illegal for a doctor to remove a baby and not try to save its life. Would you still call that an abortion? Even if killing the baby was not the plan?
Abortion: Termination of pregnancy and expulsion of an embryo or of a fetus that is incapable of survival.
Based on that definition, I would have to say "yes, I would still call it an abortion"
23:9 Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.
Diotte: Abortion is the attempt to terminate Life before birth. No abortion is intended to help the life. You're trying to play with the words, and in this case you can't. What you're proposing is a new procedure right? A pregant mother who is in danger of death herself, is another issue. If your trying to make a distinction, then mention the distinction.
Dr. Diotte, did you not read this?
Are you suggesting a new Procedure for women who may die or for all those seeking abortion?
