My biggest worry, when implementing a new software package, is the aesthetic quality - software that is ugly or difficult to navigate likely won't win the hearts of its users.

XenForo includes a simple color changer and you can make further changes through an extensive style property editor. The thing that caught my eye is that you can edit the HTML and CSS in a text editor. I have been writing HTML, CSS, and php for years and this is indeed a blessing.

Xenforo appears to have been a great choice. Thank you, CF.Net!

Looked a bit into Xenforo, looks very nice, way better than these kind of forums! Will Xenforo still be able to use Tapatalk? I am not a Tapatalk user currently, but just something I was wondering.

Ah sweet! I have Android 2.2 and somehow Tapatalk won't even work on it, sadly enough. You reckon I should root my phone to a newer version of Android?

    I'd advise against rooting.

2.2 is very old. Can't it download 4x? What's your phone?

Samsung Galaxy S1 (T959 Vibrant), can't even get the 2.3 or higher update on it. -_- Really getting annoyed with 2.2, barely supports any new apps!

Well if you don't want to risk rooting, I'd suggest a new phone.

But the new site has a great mobile theme.

    Check out xenforo.com/community on mobile.

Wow that looks really nice! Yeah I'm thinking of getting the Nexus 4, or else just buying the Nexus 7 tablet.

Yeah, from what I've read Tapatalk is really good, especially since I'm on multiple forums it'd be sweet to manage it all :)

Yep! I'm on 5 forums and it's so nice to read all of them in a single, fast, mobile-oriented app. You might give Tapatalk a try, it's well worth it.

I would if I could, I got Android 2.2 and somehow Tapatalk isn't supported on it which is quite disappointing, so I'm not considering rooting my phone since my warranty is already gone anyways, and as long as I'd do everything correctly I could run a higher version of Android which does support Tapatalk and various other apps it currently doesn't support, sadly enough.

As an ex-Android developer, allow me to explain what happened there. When a developer codes an Android app the developer can choose which versions of Android that the new app will support. Almost all Android developers update their apps to drop support for older versions of Android. This is good in that it keeps the app code base clean and efficient. It's also bad because this is exactly what is causing fragmentation on the Android platform.

Since you can sideload apps on an Android device, it may be worth your while to contact the Tapatalk developer and ask them to provide you with an older version of Tapatalk so you can install it. I've done this for people who are stuck with older Android versions. Can't hurt to ask.

Ah okay, thanks for the information man! I just contacted the Tapatalk Support and asked them if they'd be able to give me an older version of Tapatalk which does support 2.2 or basically a different version, w/e. I hope they'll be able to! Really keen to use it.

Skillet, if you aren't able to get Tapatalk on your Galaxy, don't be too bummed. Nick wasn't kidding when he said XF has a great mobile view. I could see the advantage of it if you're on several forums, but for CFnet, it will be the bomb! Even email notifications are formatted with the XF layout, so they look and feel like you're on the board.

They'll be some getting used to when we migrate the board, but it's easy to see how the adoption curve will be very fast. It'll be like going from a black & white TV to a big screen hdtv! :yes

I just downloaded an older version of Tapatalk, the support forum members there were happy to assist me with it, and it works perfectly fine! Really happy I can use Tapatalk now.

Yeah, I'm sure it'll look so much different and more awesome! Really keen for it to happen. :) Great job on the forums Mike!

You're welcome. I'm glad you were able to get an older version of Tapatalk, it's an amazing app. App communities are wonderful.
