I may have to ask, if my brother wasn't in the hospital I would ask about the zep thing. he would know. there was that stuff about the eagles song called motel California too. yet with all the digital tech today and photo editing and video editing surely one can play songs backwords. after music is merely turned into a series of logic commands that turn on and off sound board switches.

That's unbelievable.....just wow. Not sure why people don't see big pictures, instead of tunnel vision.
we have people like my fil who fit that old guys they mention. he left vbfd/irfd(dual retirement and way off topic) in 1980. some that retired in 65 are still alive. do the math on that person.

I don't know that anyone has the foresight and planning skills to put a message in an entire song saying it backwards. Incredibly, incredibly difficult assuming it's at all possible. And if someone says "______" which says "kill people" when said backwards or something, it'll be the same for anyone who says it. More like a coincidence than planning.
As a sound technician I can say that it's pretty easy to do this, even with the technologies available in the 60's. When they make the original recording of a song every voice and every instrument is miced separately and recorded on it's own track. Later on in "remastering" each track can be manipulated or removed, and other tracks can even be added. All you have to do is record a voice saying what you want to put in backwards, then re-record it as a new track with the tape running backwards . It will sound strange and unintelligible, so you simply insert it along with some other sounds that seem strange too. Some of the "psychedelic" rock back then had a lot of strange sounds to hide the backward masking in.

But did they really do this? I don't know. I do remember hearing they did, but never tried turning records backward myself to see if I could hear it. It was the parents of the younger generation making these claims and usually it was simply because they didn't like the "new" music their kids were listening to so they wanted to discredit it. I think a lot of it was the conspiracy theory of the times. It wouldn't surprise me if it had been done sometimes, but if it was, it was probably a lot more rare than people made it out to be, and I wouldn't be surprised if it had a lot less actual effect on people than they made it out to. Afterall, this was the generation of parents that also believed sitting too close to the TV screen would make you go blind from the "radiation" coming out of it!

A spin-off from another thread, a comment was made by me that this time period is much worse than it was a few or several decades ago as far as values and morals, temptations of sexual immorality, etc.

How about you? Are times better today than they were in the 40's, 50's, 60's, 70's than in the 21st century? Please share your thoughts!

Thanks!

Gary

I don't really agree with this idea. It's always been worse. Once the fall happened, it's just been bad except for the bright spots when Jesus walked among us and when God spoke to man. We can argue all day that it's worse now because of technology making sin even more innocuous such that we can sin and not even realize it (drinking coke or soda that has fetal cells for example) but in the end sin is sin and sin is sin. Man has made no progress in any direction. And he cannot make any progress. The only salvation or change possible is in accepting Jesus as our Savior.

This is a light hearted thread, no one is debating or arguing anything....we're just conversing about the differences.

Would point out that human, fetus or not, is not an actual ingredient in any soda. What that was about was using fetal cells in taste experiments...something like that. I don't remember the details, but I do know that it definitely wasn't that aborted babies were being used as an ingredient.
Not much better though.

Here is a speech that Obama gave and they played it backwards, it really sounds like what they say it does, here it is.
