Yes Jason
In John 10:34 Jesus said
Is it not written in your law,, I said, Ye are gods? Referring to PSA.82:6

Jason, I have tried to find the verse you speak of saying we received power to be sons of God.
Do you know where it is ?
That would help a lot.
Appreciate it..

Romans 8:13-15. the spirit of adoption to become sons of god

Thanks Jason
I thought that was where it was, but couldn't find the same words you used.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Verse 14.

So that doesn't make us a god, lol.

no, to assume that we are like Jesus is that ignores that adam was a son of god. we will surely be in a new body of Glory but I highly doubt we will create life, own planets.

john 1:12
Got ya!
John 1:12

Yep, I agree

But are they called angels also?

As in Job 38:7
When God laid the foundations of the earth,
7, When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

not in all cases. ben eloke(sp) can mean a few things but we are tangeting into the nephilum. jews are divided on that word as It can mean angel. man as in adam or one whom has power ie pharaoh and decides like a god whom will die.

It might be easier to do than you might think, so let me challenge with something.

In the gospels when Jesus stand up and condemns the Pharisees, woe unto you Pharisees, Hypocrites.......

When you read those passages in the scripture, how do you receive the word within yourself. Do you perceive yourself as Jesus uttering your condemnation to the Pharisees, or do you receive the Word of the Lord as the Pharisee being condemned?

spotlight-emoticon.gif
Hmmm, lol. I never asked myself that one before. Knowing what I know about the Pharisees and their legalistic ways, it would have to be as Jesus, however, I would not be uttering condemnation to them, for such is not my place.

Of course is an idiom, but one with significance, for it is a spiritual mountain that stands in our way, and Sinai/Horeb represents the commandment of the Law and the old covenant. We are all drawn to Christ and to His Heavenly Zion, but many struggle to get there, and many turn back because the way is too hard, but they climb a mountain that they need not climb nor were asked to climb, if only they had the faith to move it aside.

Hmmm. I didn't know that. I wonder if one could go through the mountain?

I was reading a different thread the other day in which the poster brought up Buddhism and Hinduism in a that discussion, and it got me to thinking; and so I have a question. I know very little about the beliefs and practices of other religions, so I am hoping someone might have an answer to my question.

In the Christian Bible, we first find the story of the serpent tempting Adam and Eve with the fruit of knowledge, telling them that they shall be as gods knowing good and evil. Later in the story of the Bible, we find that If we are obedient before the Lord, then we shall be as the sons of God. The story of the Bible and the knowledge of the Law presents the temptation that by your knowledge and understanding of good and evil, you begin to think of yourselves as a god, judging right and wrong, desiring to be called a Son of God.

In any of the other main world religions, be it Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism or whatever, do any of those other religions offer the same promises of becoming a god, of becoming a Son of God?
Not in any of the main religions. None of the main religions teach that we can become a god and only Christianity teaches that we are sons of God, through adoption. Mormonism, however, does teach that one can become a god, just like the Father, who was once a man as we are.

Thanks for that reply. I find it curious in a way, I mean as Christians our hope is to become as Son of God. What do the other religions offer as their hope in this respect?

Personally... I believe that everything that humans do is considered acts of trying to be God. People everyday try to please themselves which is form of self worship.

James 4:6
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

1 Peter 5:5
In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”

Many people may acknowledge the overt pride and rebellion of Lucifer (satan) that caused his fall but ignore the same spiritual force of control in their own lives. The Bible says, “Pride goes before destruction” and for this reason “God is opposed to the proud"
It was pride that he has and fell for it. He wants us to follow his footsteps to prove his own madness.

Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof (eat what?), then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
What did God give us to discern good and evil? The law.

Could they indeed become God? Of course not, but they could know that ministration of death that killed. They did come to know good and evil previously unknown to them; they even hid their nakedness as the result.

How was their individual sin rectified?
Gen 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them. This was akin to the Aaronic priesthood yearly offering of:
Ex 30:10. And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.

Did this covering of Gen 3:21 provide eternal life? No, even though they had come to know right and wrong as God, there remained the Tree of Life (Jesus) to become brethren with Him as a son of God.

God did not want them to live forever in their present condition.
Gen 3:22 And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever.

As god like as we are, like the Father. There is only one creator. I doubt we will be creating planets. Then again, we don't know everything the Father has for us. Even John said He does not know what we will appear to be, but just like Jesus. We will see.

I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Psalm 82:6

Jesus asking for what reason they were going to stone him NOW, was it for healing on the Sabbath? Did not like his aftershave? They said No, for those things we don't stone you, but you said your the Son of God, Making yourself out to be God.

The Jewish people knew that to be a Son of someone, you also had to be of the same. Each seed produces after it's own kind.

In Western culture.

Monkeys produce monkeys.
Dog's produce dogs.
and if God wants real Children, He produces poor sinners saved by grace.

Jesus said, "Ye Are gods!!!" You hypocrites are stoning me for something you are also?

The problem is, they were not acting anything like the nature of the father, despite being made like him.

A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of the mighty; he judgeth among the gods. How long will ye judge unjustly, and accept the persons of the wicked? Selah.
(Psa 82:1-2)

I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
(Psa 82:6-7)

Jesus makes it pretty clear to them. Though they be gods, like the father, that status of relationship won't save them. Not taking up the nature of the one that made them makes them like men. Carnal, and judged like one of the princes.

The above post is correct in its context, It make sense to me that all men, women, and children will be judged by the books that are written. whether it be good or bad issues we all are gods.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 2 Corinthians 5:10

He will face what he has done, whether it be good or bad, God pondereth the hearts of all men and women, and knows every minute detail.

Romans 2:6-11New International Version (NIV). 6 God “will repay each person according to what they have done.

Right!!! and if God really looks at us as "gods" made like him, then He would have every right to expect man to by nature be as he is. Full of Love, sound judgement, not giving over to the things of the World. It also stands to reason why man is judged on such a high level, because that is what God is comparing us to. Himself.

I know I did not expect any of my children to act like dogs, or have the Morals of ally cats. I did not expect some sub human to come out of the womb who was dumb and ignorant.

Why would God expect lesser of his own Children?

I think that it will be a time for everything under Gods sun to be judge, God will judge both the righteous man and the wicked man, for a time for every matter.

All this I saw, as I applied my mind to everything done under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 3:16

And moreover I saw under the sun the place of judgment, that wickedness was there; and the place of righteousness, that iniquity was there.

So then, would you think of what will happen to our children, esp. as we that keep his commandments?

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
