The challenge here is you just get one answer only; I know that is difficult, but please comply. No parallels, no interlinears, no original languages (English bible), no fudging by mentioning several, please. Ultimately, I think I'd have to go with KJV, and I'll respect my own rules and not mention the others I'd have to consider.

NIV, and I'll respect your rule as well. (I'll just say I hope we're on the same island ;) )

dang, this is hard! NASB95.

Could I please bring a ziploc bag? I'd hate to get my only Bible all wet

It is a close race but I would have to go with KJV as well.

Thus far:

KJV - 4
NIV - 1
NASB - 2
ESV - 1
Scriptures - 1
RSV -1

Pard's buying us all ziplock bags, I'll get the candles.
Would like to see more responses and JUST MENTION ONE TRANSLATION ONLY, PLEASE.

There are 3 on my short list (KJV, NKJV, NASB).

I will go with NASB. Mostly because it's widely used by scholars (I read a lot of academic books and journals so the consistency is nice) and it's the most readable of the word-for-word translations for me.
