The purpose of this thread is to describe your favorite type of cake / pie (or provide a photograph), or both.

My favorite type of cake is lemon-flavored fruit cake, with lots and lots of kiwis:

My family's current favorite cake is what my son calls my "Strawberry Long Cake".

I bake a simple white cake in a 9x13 pan, I like Pillsbury the best. Let it cool. Poke a bunch of holes in it with a fork.

While the cake is cooling, wash and slice up some fresh strawberries, enough to cover the cake. Set them aside to drain. Then combine 1 3/4 cups cold water, 1 cup sugar and 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once that is boiling, add a 3oz package of strawberry Jello. Stir until Jello is completely dissolved.

Layer the strawberries over the cake. Pour the Jello mixture over the whole thing and put in the fridge to cool. Once the jello is set, cover the whole thing with Cool Whip. Keep refrigerated.

Or, if you're like John and prefer pie to cake, bake a 9" pie crust. Fill the pie crust with washed and sliced strawberries all the way to the rim. Fix the Jello recipe and pour that into the strawberries until to the rim. Refrigerate until set and serve with whipped cream or cool whip.

Pumpkin, sweet potato, pecan, peach, blueberry, apple, Key lime... er, no particular order as long as it ends in "pie". :lol

:crazy

I want some of that! I'm going to try this out. I like cooking, but baking scares me sometimes-don't know why.

I usually eat cakes only on special occasions. But I do buy strawberry or cherry topped cheesecake or chocolate cake.

I like the strawberry shortcake ice cream. Wish I could find a cake with that ice cream and crumbs in the middle...mmmm
