I created a necklace of a toroise shell precious opal mounted above the stone from my mother's engagement ring. I also have a Mexican
Opal that is fairly large and mounted inside a Black Hills Gold ear ring, which I use for a necklace. So I used to be a rock hound in my
former life. Our family used to get a scribbled map from a friend and go on a treasure hunt, usually finding that the road disappeared in
a pasture. It was an adventure and a lot of good memories of family fun. We also used to make jewelry.

Sounds good, Carolyn.

Have you always used it as a necklace and not an earring?

Kind of like an heirloom, sounds like.

Blessings.

My favorite jewelry is the pearl and agate necklace I bought for my wife last year. I like to see her wearing it. (not me)

i actually sold my two gold chains and charms and replaced it with a thin silver chain and charms. my silver charms are a cross and a ring that has roman numerals up to twelve inscribed in it, and i have a thin black silk cord chain for my cross. i only where the chains on special occasions though. i do however where a silver ring on my right ring finger. it symbolizes me as a writer and recording artist. i think gold is tacky in your 30's, haha. ;)

90% of the time all I wear a silver claddagh ring with a sapphire heart and a pair of stud earings.

I think my all time favorite necklace though (for when I do wear more) is a 1" or so tall green stone cat with silver wire butterfly wings, worn on a silver chain (a fairly heafty one as that charm is heavy)

If I do wear jewelry, it's usually a necklace. My favorite necklace was this wooden cross. I don't really have it anymore, though.

I have this bracelet/watch thing that has a chain that my mom gave me. I love it. But it needs it's battery replaced.

Thanks, guys.

Ref. was made to the weight of a pendant: at least it's around the neck, rather than pulling the earlobes as an earring! (There are more effective ways of gauging ones ears a little, than by simply let a pendants pull on the holes...)

Don't forget to vote in the poll, guys, if you haven't already.

Blessings.

My wedding band. Black Hills gold and diamonds.

Great minds, or should I say Deborah think alike, except mine is Debra LOL. My favorite is also my Black Hills Gold wedding bands, but mine is a very small diamond as I'm not much of a jewelry wearer unless I am dressing up to go somewhere and then it's just the same ole small hoop earrings and maybe another ring if my fingers aren't swelled. I have all kinds of jewelry, but never wear it.

for his glory:

Sounds like you got a repertoire to choose from, anyway, when necessary.

I read someplace that in terms of formality and suitability for occasions, lifestyle gurus etc say that on occasions that men would wear a necktie, the woman's equivalent is remembering to put in earrings. I'm sure there's some truth to it; with a lot of men dispensing with neckties today, and with many women having second holes put in (which you mentioned before), I guess it's both simpler and more complex at the same time.

Sorry about your arthritis. (I'm still hoping the twinges I feel occasionally won't develop further.)

Blessings.

Since I really never go much of anywhere except on Wednesdays to get groceries and pay some bills I am usually at home in shorts and an old T-shirt around the house. I'm a pretty simple kinda country gal.

...and very nice, too, I'm sure. Blessings.

It would be really large and heavy as an ear ring, and I always wear 2. Just showing my age. I like fillagree and open styles but especially
in ear rings. But the first neckless with the diamond is contemporary in curved, flowing open style of heavy gold. The second is lighter weight
but the stone is still large and heavy. They are very nice opals with all colors that really burst with flashes..

Carolyn:

Well, interesting!

For earrings worn as earrings, so to speak, you like big ones, too?

When you said 'I always wear 2', that is, 1 each side, or 2 in each ear?

(The 2 in each ear thing has really become well established in the past few decades now.)

Blessings.
