I think the worst kinds of false doctrine are, as you said, those that some consider 'Christian' but aren't. They are more subtle.

I have always had a real big problem with '"Prosperity Gospel" which is taught in some big churches - namely Hillsong (as far as I know), that if you have true faith you will have a great life here on earth. From reading some passages in the Bible out of context, it's not too hard to get this message, but it is clearly out of sync with the Bible. I think some can also get too caught up with pastor's healing and the speaking in tongues. I"m not saying these lattter two are necessarily not Chrisitan, but they can be often twisted as such.
Absolutely agree.

Bogus healing, tongues and prosperity heresies are 3 of the most destructive in the church today.
ALll require some outward issue to 'prove' a persons faith and when it doesnt happen the person loses what faith they had, not understanding that GOD doesnt have a thing to do with these treacherous/demonic teachings.

if taught properly these things shouldnt push away but drawn closer to the lord, tounges and the interpretations.

i hate the prospertity gospel and the likes of the teaching of the hinn.

While it’s not really a “doctrine†here’s the thing I most disapprove of…

The belief that God wants to save all people, but will only succeed in saving some of them.

As if this life is a big ‘ol chess game between God and Satan, and Satan will take more of the pieces – against Gods will! :screwloose

that is a poor way of saying that the lost choose to remain to be lost. if the lord were to "force' us unto salvation then what's the point of having a will.

happyjoy was either and agnostic and athiest.
certainly not an orthodox christain

once saved always saved is the name given to the doctrine of eternal security given by those that dont beleive in it.

my position on women in spiritual leadership is grounded there. that doenst mean a women shouldnt work, or hold office, just that motherhood is to be called good and sought after if the woman wants(the married couple) to have kids. the children should come first over that boat, nice house, cars.

being a former bisexual, i have learned that some of the cause may be due to lack of proper examples of what a man or a women should be.
i dont think god wants women to be like man nor a man to be like a woman. this doenst mean that men should cry, having feelings and being tenderhearted is one thing(jesus himself wept over lazurus!), another for a man to effiminate and afraid to be a man.

that is what i was refering in a nut shell. odd that you as a muslim protest this. men in the muslim world are called weak for being soft and effimenate. that is how it was in afghanistan.

because most chruches properly teach this. the problem is the sexual revolution is distorted on what the church taught, when they started men werent doing their jobs, (still happens) and that what was the real problem.

men would use the bible to justify the abuse or servitude of women.
of course like all parts of the bible, the church fouled it up too.

i hope you realise that the women who started the feminist movement were christians who wanted be looked upon from the more biblical point not as "property" and that they didnt want to have thier kids to be called "property" or treat them as such(most likely against abortion)

i cant believe that we are in agreement. interesting. most muslims i assume would want to repress women like i saw overseas. in america that aint doable.

of course our women dont wear the partial burquas nor head covering. but i think that ideas mainly for preservation of the look of the women in the desert as she would dress her hair and the elements might have roughed her expression(in the desert) and made her look a man.

i believe in hebrew culture of the time, women did cover thier head. not done now for sure as most jews are very liberal in doctrine and in politics.

Whats all this?

.. it seems to me that churches with women pastors are far more accepting to sin. My family knows a transsexual who went to a church with a female pastor, who preached complete acceptance and was a lesbian herself. I notice this prominence in other churches with female pastors as well. However, that may be besides the point here, though it has made me a little wary of said churches.

Speak for your own American churches ! .. :shame

We have women pastors in our churches where I live and none condone the sin of homosexuality. The one gay church that we have is entirely run by men !

Romans 16:7
Greet Andronicus and Junias, my relatives who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.

In the Scripture above, the Apostle Paul is calling Junias, a WOMAN , outstanding among the apostles. I won't be surprised if some reduce this scripture to imply that Paul wasn't really talking about "apostles" !

Yep, I agree that the worst false doctrine could be one where the religion that spreads so much violence and chaos in this world claims to worship the same god as the Christian God of the Bible !

NIV
romans 16:7 kjv let me post this one

" Salute andronicus and junia,my kinsmen who are of note among the apostles, who also were in christ before me."

i think verse simply means that junia is of a good reputation not that she was an apostle.
i want to see if that is a feminine name as my topical index calls them males not women.
