ezra one of the things a few have said to me is they aren't clear on the OP. Is there a way for you to edit more in? I'm thinking you're getting at things like this: What does it mean to have the mind of Christ? What does that look like in our daily lives? What does the Bible have to say about it? And I'll add this: How does having the mind of Christ and being Christ like connect? Is this what you're getting at?

Philippians 2:1-15King James Version (KJV)
1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

It means to love as Christ loved and to serve as Christ served and to set our lives as purposed in Heaven. Colossians 3:1 Therefore, since you have been raised with Christ, strive for the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.…

O Papa Zoom. You just hit a Chopper "Home Run" with that reply to Ezra's thread, IMO. You just posted two of my favorite Scriptures. O my.... Philippians 2:5 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus."....Take heart Ezra, we're just starting to get revved up here on your thread, "The mind of Christ".

Papa Zoom quoted the two Scriptures that came to my mind when I thought about replying to your thread. Way to go Papa! Hey, you and I are on the same page. :thumb

With the help of the Holy Spirit of Christ, He can cause my earthly mind to be renewed to take on what is in the mind of Jesus at any time. I'll tell you a true story about a time when our Lord Jesus spoke to my heart/mind. This communication with Jesus started when I was Baptized in the Holy Ghost in 1990-1991. I was a member of the Worship Team at Faith Baptist Church in Greenfield, MA. One Monday evening at practice, one of the ladies asked for prayer for a friend of hers named Amy.

She had been diagnosed with terminal cancer in her bones. The Lord immediately spoke to my mind and said, "she will not die". I spoke to the worship leader about this message from Jesus and she asked what to do. The Lord impressed my mind to have Amy come to our next practice and I would anoint her with oil and those who felt led of the Lord would lay hands on Amy and I would pray for her.

It took a little urging for Amy to come, her husband was a Teen ministry Pastor in a Church in another Town, and he didn't believe in spiritual healing. Amy did come the next Monday night, and I had those who felt led to lay hands on Amy and I progressed to anoint her with oil and prayed according to what the mind was of the Lord Jesus....The result? Amy is still alive today, 15 years later. All glory to God for His unspeakable gift of healing thru someone who laid hands on her.

The Scripture Colossians 3:1-3 is so important because we need to raise our thoughts from this dusty old world to the glory of the right hand of God where Jesus sits with His Father, and let His works flow thru us to the needs of those on earth who seek Jesus' help in their time of need.

yes let me expand what does { it mean you the posters to have the mind of Christ}

I think you would have to break it down.

The mind of Christ:
Toward God
Toward others - this you could break down further.
Toward ourselves

Christ thought in different ways. And thinking one way toward another would not do any good.

I dont think I have the mind of Christ.
Bingo. We don't have the mind of Christ. When we get out of our own way, which we seldom do, the Holy Spirit can work through us. Pretending we have the mind of Christ, trying to act Christ-like, is the problem 75% of the time. (Not even pretending or trying is the problem the other 25%.) The fruit of the Spirit is the evidence the Spirit is working through you, period. There is no other sense in which we "have the mind of Christ."

"Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NASB). This is probably the best way to get out of our own way.

Amen to all of that brother!

Remember, this isn't a debate forum. We're going off what the Word of God tells us. Phillipians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

We are told to have the mind of Christ. Let this mind (of Christ) be in you (that which was also in Christ Jesus). So clearly we can have the mind of Christ. Romans 12: 2 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

This is key to having the mind of Christ. Being transformed by renewing your mind! And what does it take to renew one's mind? God tells us in His word "I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil." Romans 16:19 (NIV) We learn to renew our mind in several ways I think. One is through His Word. That is first and foremost. But other ways are important too. Iron sharpens iron. We need each other to encourage each other, care for each other, and pray for each other. Set our hearts on things above. I like the way the KJV says it:
Colossians 3:2King James Version (KJV)
2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

It's a daily effort. By the power of the Spirit of God.

The best I can offer is to have the Holy Spirit. Either by being led by the Spirit and have the fruit of the Spirit, or to be contacted by God through the Holy Spirit.

No one knows the Father except the Son. No one knows the Son except the Father. I wish I could say other wise but I have to agree with Kiwidan.

I dont think I have the mind of Christ.

Too many sins, not enough good fruit. All I can do is love God and love Jesus and hope they keep me in mind.

10For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God. 11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God. 12Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God, 13which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.

14But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one. 16For WHO HAS KNOWN THE MIND OF THE LORD, THAT HE WILL INSTRUCT HIM? But we have the mind of Christ.
(1 Corinthians 2:10-16 NASB bold mine)

We can see from the passage that we have the mind of Christ because it is the Spirit of God who knows what God is thinking. And since we have the Spirit of God in us we can know what God is thinking. And if we know what God is thinking we can then communicate what God is thinking to the world around us through whatever way it is we are able and gifted to do so. The baptism in the Spirit is a special empowering to do that (in contrast to simply having the indwelling Holy Spirit).

As LovethroughDove said, it comes down to having spiritual discernment. A discernment that gives us access to the things of God that we can then act on according to our willingness, faith, skills, and ability. For chopper this meant being powerful in prayer and healing. In everyday life it looks like the fruit of the Spirit.

"I remind you to kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. 7For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline." (2 Timothy 1:6-7 NASB bold mine)

the moment we get save we have in indwelling presence of the spirit. no spirit no Christ --no salvation. i agree to some extent on bad spirit, i drove by a church sign that read forbidden fruits creates many jams this can be referenced through Romans 6 . our mind has to be trained imo comes through prayer meditation of the word and discipline...obedience which is something we all have trouble with i by far do i have this all packaged up and can say i have no problem in this area . we are and always will be a W.I.P work in progress changed from glory to glory

Somewhere along the line the baptism in the Spirit got relegated to the minority. And even that minority is being pruned down to more of a minority. But as it is, that's always where God's truth eventually ends up, in the minority. That's where the Spirit of God is, and from which we can have the mind of Christ in all power and understanding. But there are many forces that resist and suppress it.

imo the baptism of the spirit is over ....not sure what word to use.. the Bible says
1 Corinthians 12:13King James Version (KJV)
13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. which happens at the new birth i think some feel they hold the patent to the Holy spirit the still small voice the comforter as one who walks along beside us.. then the spirit of truth

I amy be misunderstanding you here.....are you saying we are no longer baptized in the Holy Spirit?

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

I think a lot of people think this is some kind of incantation that Jesus told His disciples to do when they were dunking someone in water.

It actually means to baptize them, immerse them, in each of the areas of the God head. The baptism in the Spirit is a real thing, it's just some make it a purely physical thing. It doesn't take a ordained person - just a disciple of Christ.

Agreed.......

I would add that this baptizing we are called to do is what aids(not the best word) in the transformation of the heart and mind of the believer.

The scripture says, "He lays up sound wisdom for the righteous..." Proverbs 2:7

That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: Ephesians 1:17 (God's perspective on all matters)

1 John 2:12-14 gives us the three levels of Christians; little children - young men - and fathers (these three levels of Christians could be any age and are also female). So, where are the fathers?

The Believer only grows in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18 - Luke 24:45) by Faith exclusively in Christ and His Finished Work, i.e., The Cross of Christ, i.e., The Blood of Jesus (Romans 8:2). This allows the Holy Spirit the legal means to help us in every capacity of life. The Holy Spirit only works in the perimeter of Jesus Christ and the Cross, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, i.e., The Finished Work of Christ. (For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.)

There are many who are of the Faith, but really do not understand the Faith, so they walk in defeat. We are to give them the Message of the Cross, in order that they might walk in perpetual Victory (Romans 8:2) (This is the duty of the fathers -1 John 2:12-14 ).
