Hello, Soma-Sight,

First, one wonders how solid the information would be on a site whose owner spelled you're incorrectly.

Secondly, how likely would a person be to seek information from a site that announces in its name that the seeker is going to hell? It is both arrogant and ignorent to claim knowledge as to who specifically is going to hell and who is not. I think a site so-named will be of very limited value as a witnessing tool.

Finally, what are the best reasons to become a follower of Jesus? He laid down his life for you. He is the best, most gracious, most moral and most loving human ever to walk the earth, and he deserves your discipleship. He teaches to his followers how to demonstrate those excellent qualities that he possesses. Those are some very good reasons to be a follower of Jesus.
To avoid hell is the lowest reason to become a follower of Jesus. It is fear-based and selfish in the extreme.

I agree completely.
So do I. Nice post Duder. If only the author(s) of the site took the same approach.

Nikki, I also agree with what you said in the post before the one I quoted.

If you need to scare the Love of Jesus into any pagan, Islamic, Jewish, New Age, homosexual, etc in your life start with this website.

Good intro for kids as well.

Oh for sure. That is such a lovely uplifting site. I can see how Jesus would have created a site just like that one. He must be soooo pleased.

Interesting site...I don't know whether to take it seriously or not, though.

Well according to the mainstream Christian Church pretty much every other religion in the world is a "cult" and hellbound.

That is because the Bible is taught in the mainstream Christian Church, and unless you believe in Jesus Christ, you are a cult and hellbound.

If you don't believe it read the entire Bible and not just the verses that back up the lies that the father of lies is distributing to deceive many. Remember, satan used the scriptures to tempt Jesus, but he took the scriptures out of context, and did not rightly divide the Word of God.

'cult'- perhaps that is a bit emotive. I've not come across many mainstream church folks that would say that. Hellbound- well the bible seems to suggest that those who don't turn to God are rejecting God, and as there are only two choices.......

You know Soma, it really isn't that big a deal. It only becomes a big deal if you believe what they say and still reject it. :)

I'm not saying that I agree with everything on that link, but...

Matthew 11:16-17 But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, And saying: 'We played the flute for you, And you did not dance; We mourned to you, And you did not lament.'

These are children who mimicked the adults, playing wedding or funeral. The wedding and funeral represent the two different ways the same Gospel message was presented by both John the baptist, and then Jesus. The funeral being representative of John the Baptist's teaching the Gospel, and the wedding being representative of the way Jesus taught the same Gospel.

Matthew 11:18-19 For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, 'He has a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, 'Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!' But wisdom is justified by her children."

The reasons that they claimed to reject John's preaching of the Gospel would have allowed them to accept it from Jesus, and vice versa, but their rejection of both deliveries of the same message exposed their excuses as lies and exposed them for the real reasons they rejected the Gospel. The presentation of the Gospel is not why they rejected it's message.

I would say that the link given was trying to preach a funeral message. It's still the same Gospel. :)

You know what I have found out ? People are scared to talk about Hell, or they get alarmed. They tell you to talk about anything else, except death and Hell.
I'll say this one more time Jesus talked about Hell. That site over there is a good warning site. I am glad that it is there. Because people need to see it.

This site's a crock. They are from West babylon, NY---- one of these close-minded types that if the heads were any narrower they'd could get thru the crack of a door to enter in. Maybe they need a few beers--- I noticed that the "alochol & drugs" link was broken. :-D

I looked at the first page of the site and dismissed it. My wife is a graduate of a Biblical college and she did the same thing. Any Christian masquerading around as a prophet is false because I and others are of the opinion that modern day prophets do not exist yet the site quotes one.

So wait... are we talking about Hell, or Hades, or Gehenna, or the sea of fire in Revelations? Because most translations (*cough* KJV *cough*) seem to somewhat sloppily use all these things interchangeably, and just lump them all under "Hell", which is extremely misleading.

Let people see something like that AFTER they find out the GOOD things about Jesus first. I know MANY athiests and the whole "hell and damnation" speech does nothing but make them refuse to listen. It's a bad way to go about spreading the "word".

I still don't agree with that site. Oh, and I'm not scared at all to talk about hell. I just refuse to scare others away by making the topic of hell the first thing out of my mouth when I witness to them.

My class the other day was addressing this very question: "Is it possible to scare someone into Christ?"

"What does Jesus really want from us?" the discussion asked. The people around the circle (different races, nationalities, genders, ages) all agreed that Jesus really wants a sincere commitment from his followers. We disagreed that a coerced commitment was a sincere one. Of course, Jesus only got really sore at those on the inside of society (Pharisees, scribes, etc.). He never got sore at those on the edges (women, tax-collectors (kind of inside/kind of outside), "sinners"). So maybe there is not one uniform answer to this. Maybe, it is different for the power-brokers of this world (this would include churches these days) than for those on the edges: the poor, homosexuals, the elderly, etc.[/url]

I agree with you here. In other words, a site such as this tries to scare people into Christ as a form of eternal fire insurance. Sorry--- that's not faith. Frankly, I do not believe the writers of that site are any more born again themselves than the chair you are sitting on, but that's only IMO.
