.look up movies/pictures from woodstock (or other from the 40's to 60's) (just 50 to 80 years ago)
and see
there's no one in the movies / pictures obese - they're all skinny and healthy(physically). very few exceptions if any.
if you're over middle age, remember when <almost> no one in college or on the bus or airplane or at the grocery store or at the shopping center or at the movie theater or at the laundromat
took up 2 seats !

back injuries. I have had days from mine where I can put on a sock and yet feel the headache come on or it intensify. so for me if I was a bit worse with that. this would be a blessing.

That never occurred to me. My first thought was "lazy". :goodpost

The food supply is being genetically altered. Because of that, our bodies are also being altered.

tog, don't get me started on lazy people who claim disabled on my paper route and others. I have seen some walk and run and want there paper at the door. I do have a few elderly people who cant walk, those I don't mind.its when its blatent

... or pregnancy. Or people who aren't very flexible any more because of old age.
There are a few valid uses for such a device.
while I agree with that. I know men way older then me that can so splits and do yoga. one of those is my old sensei. he is in his mid 50's.i know with this Is one of those things that if one is flexable and keeps it you don't loose it.

My 79 year old sister-in-law just climbed Diamond Head last week..... and last year, she did two marathons....... but it WAS just "speed-walking". (which is almost as fast as I can run)

Some here have mentioned disabilities and back injuries and such. That hadn't occured to me, but I did know that there were elderly people who would have a problem with putting on their socks. I just didn't think it was such a large group that there would be a big market for something like this. I think obesity contributes considerable to that market. I know that's the reason I have trouble bending over.

We can't shoot them either. :nono

Maybe it doesn't have to be such a big market to be profitable. When you look at what companies that make medical supplies and devices charge the insurance companies for these things, maybe this thing is only intended to be sold to a smaller market at a huge price?

Of course, now that my hypothetical 500 pound friend has used this to put on his socks, this still leaves me wondering how he is going to put on his shoes and tie the laces!

Snowbirds.......................... You mean I have been shooting them illegally?!?!?!
think of all the lives of the natives you have made richer by doing that.
seriously. much of what my town's uniqueness is being lost to the snowbirds. lets level mangrove and denature the real florida for a pseudo paradise Hawaiian style:screwloose2

That borders on genius!

First, buy shoes that don't have laces, but do have a loop on the heel, similar to these:

Then use a long shoe horn to put them on, like this one:

Use the bent end to bring the shoe to you, by putting it in the loop on the heel, and use the other end to put it on.
