I just watched the movie Zoolander yesterday. Has anyone else seen it. This was a great movie. First time I watched it I thought it ws really dumb. The more and more I watch it, the better it gets. Now it is in my top ten.

I havent, it doesnt call my attention.....

the previews look dumb...

That's my opinion...

Actually I watched it a second time and for some reason it was a lot funnier then. Still has dumb parts, but it ws still better the second time.

I loved that movie!!!

But you are talking to a person who is a cheesy 80's movie buff.

And Ben Stiller is as cheesy as they get (LOL).

I think my fave part in "Happy Gilmore" is when Happy threw Stiller's sleazy character out the window on the top floor of his grandma's nursing home. Heeeheeehee.

The best scene in "Gilmore": Gilmore v. Bob Barker! ROTFLMBO all the while!

Wish they could have had Ben Stiller v. Bob Barker!

To paraphrase Sandler in "The Waterboy," Bob's gonna open a can of whoop on that Stiller fella! Whoopity do!

I havent' seen Happy Gillmore yet but my brother says it is pretty funny.

I hated Zoolander and Waterboy - just plain stupid

Not like I should talk, I like Encino Man and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Talk about incredibly unrealistic!!! LOL

I loved Zoolander despite what some here have commented. You have to like stupid/funny movies to enjoy it. I think another movie by Ben Stiller that never got to the big screen (I don't believe) was Mystery Men.

But I did really enjoy this movie, it's very quotable (Just like Dumb and Dumber) and is a big hit on most college campuses!

I loved Zoolander! My favorites scene is when Zoolander is talking to J.P. Prewitt (The Hand model played by David David Duchovny…the guy who played Mulder from the X-Files)…here are the lines that scene from the movie:

You think Zoolander's in trouble? Think again. What you stumbled upon goes way deeper than you could ever fathom. The fashion industry has been behind every major political assassination over the last 200 years. Behind every hit, a card-carrying male model.

That's impossible.

Oh yeah, listen and learn, sweetness. Abe Lincoln wanted to abolish slavery right? But who do you think made the powdered wigs and colored leg stockings worn by our country's early leaders?

Mugatu!

Slaves, Derek.

Without their free labor, prices on such items would have gone up tenfold. So the powers that be hired John Wilkes Booth, the original model/actor to do Mr. Lincoln in. I'll go on. Dallas, Texas. 1963. Kennedy had just put a trade embargo on Cuba, ostensibly halting the shipment of Cuban manufactured slacks, an incredibly popular item at the time.

Lee Harvey Oswald was not a male model.

You're [censored] right he wasn't. But those two lookers who capped Kennedy from the grassy knoll sure were.

Well what about you? How do you fit into all this?

Wait a minute. I know that hand. It was in the fall 1973 Bullova watch catalog. You're J.P. Prewitt. The world's greatest hand model.

Once upon a time. Things change. Thanks to this homemade hypobaric chamber my sweet baby never did. Keep moving. And that's when I found out I was in line to assassinate Jimmy Carter.

So how did you manage to escape?

Cause I'm a hand model mama. I'm a finger jockey. We don't think the same way as the face and body boys do. We're a different breed.

So why male models?

Think about it Derek. Male models are genetically constructed to become assassins. They are in peak physical condition. They can gain entry to the most secure places in the world. Most important of all, models don't think for themselves. They do as they're told.

That is not true.

Yes, it is Derek.

Ok.

Think about any photo shoot you've ever been on.

(Zoolander has a flashback) You're a monkey Derek. You're a monkey. Dance monkey in your little spangly shoes. Mash your cymbals, chimpy. Dance Derek Dance.

Good point.

But if this has been going on for so long, Mugatu...

He's just a punk-[censored] errand boy working for an international syndicate of fashion designers. If you do a little background check on Mr. Mugatu, you'll find that he sold his soul to the devil for a shot at the big time.

But why male models?

You serious? I just told you that a moment ago.

Zoolander did get to the big screen. I loved it because it was a very funny parody of the fashion industry--with 'parody' being the operative word.
