Then you do not believe God can redeem everyone.Sexual crime cannot be overcome by the offender. It's a mental disorder.
The only way is to use artificial, or chemical, castration.
I don't know what the solution is, but I just don't like the death penalty.
Life in prison could be a solution...but real life in prison.
Thank you. That is better. No word rape is used but since the laymen calls it that it's what I use .
Sexual battery .
IOW, If I'm going down a street at night and some guy jumps out and put a knife to my throat (or not) and forcibly goes ahead, I do believe this is different than my husband demanding or forcing.
Legal terms versus oursThank you. That is better.
Probably the fact my mom was a grade school teacher makes me rather a stickler about proper word use.
Yes. I DO NOT believe God can redeem everyone. Then you do not believe God can redeem everyone.
If you do not like the death penalty, then you are in conflict with scripture.
a) The wife does not cause her husband to cheat. That is a poor excuse at best.If a man has to rape his wife to get sex then something is wrong in the marriage. It's only 5 days a month you can't have her. That's not unreasonable.
But I have heard of a lot of sexless marriages. She hasn't been intimate with him in years. But she wont get divorced. She can't be surprised if he cheats in that situation, so she is wrong to do that to her husband and cut him off.
What if that guy didn't want to cheat, was a Brother in Christ and held out much faith that his marriage will be restored eventually, so he doesn't cheat. But he still tries with his wife...Every couple months, he goes in and takes her. He doesn't want to go outside the marriage, she is his by covenant...Did he do wrong to take her anyway?
I think in mans eyes, yes. In God's eyes, no.
Why do you think that sexual crime cannot be overcome by the offender? Even if it's a mental disorder, do you think mental disorders can't be cured?Sexual crime cannot be overcome by the offender. It's a mental disorder.
The only way is to use artificial, or chemical, castration.
I don't know what the solution is, but I just don't like the death penalty.
Life in prison could be a solution...but real life in prison.
Yet in acts of prison operationsYes. I DO NOT believe God can redeem everyone.
Does everyone in prison get redeemed?
Does everyone out of prison get redeemed?
I think you mean IS GOD ABLE TO REDEEM ANYONE?
Then my answer would be Yes. Anyone can be redeemed.
I'm not in keeping with many OT laws.
The death penalty is one of them.
The state does not have the right to put a person to death.
Mistakes have been made.
In the OT it was necessary to keep order.
I also think it was wrong even back then to kill a son by bringing him outside of the village.
I can't remember the verse.
The recidivism rate is very high. Why do you think that sexual crime cannot be overcome by the offender? Even if it's a mental disorder, do you think mental disorders can't be cured?
Reductio ad absurdum. We are discussing a single disorder. Why are you expanding it to all mental disorders, as though they are the same? The recidivism rate is very high.
I think anything is possible, but not probable.
I'd be weary of having a sex offender in my neighborhood.
It's not an easy crime to stop doing....
It becomes part of the nature of the person.
Do you think all mental orders can be cured?
Because you said this:Reductio ad absurdum. We are discussing a single disorder. Why are you expanding it to all mental disorders, as though they are the same?
I agree in principle, but I think that the this disorder can be cured, not just suppressed.Because you said this:
Why do you think that sexual crime cannot be overcome by the offender? Even if it's a mental disorder, do you think mental disorders can't be cured?
You said MENTAL DISORDERS, that means all of them in general.
If you mean only the one we're speaking of,,,
Yes, I think it could be cured, but it's not probable because it's not easy.
Depends on how much the offender wants to be cured.
And, I don't think it would be a CURE, but a method learned to keep it suppressed.
What do you think?
If the patient is willing...I agree in principle, but I think that the this disorder can be cured, not just suppressed.
Exactly. I mean, this shouldn't really be that hard to understand. No man should force his wife into sex, let alone pin her down.
It is a mutual act where two become one. This is not only in the physical sense, but also emotional and spiritual.
When a man forces himself on a woman and she is in duress due to his act of violence, they are not one. And yes, forcing oneself on another is an act of violence.
a) The wife does not cause her husband to cheat. That is a poor excuse at best.
b) It is always wrong for a husband to "take" his wife. That implies that it was against her will, which is equivalent to rape.
What if she continued to say no?It is not against her will by her husband or she wouldn't have married him. Does the marriage covenant have any significance at all anymore?
Havent you ever had your wife say no to you? Have you ever persisted and said hey c'mon after she already said no once? And then she relented and let you? Now technically, it was against her will because she was watching green acres and didn't want to be bothered by you, but you are her husband and she does have a marital obligation to her husband so went ahead even though she didn't want to...
So you raped your wife? Of course not. I didn't rape my wife either and I fully agree that rape should be a capital offense when perpetrated by a stranger or outside a marriage...and proven beyond doubt.
