Is rock music the devil's music ? Some of it is and I agree with that, but not all of it is. I grew up listening to all types of music from Mahalia Jackson to Jimi Hendrix and Led Zepplin. And my experiments with LSD made my taste for rock grow. But I just can't agree with people who say all rock is bad. They even say that Christian rock is bad, and I don't agree with that. But anyway here is a link on this subject, I have not talked about this, on this board in years.

I agree that some of the secular music is very unbiblical and worldly.We are not supposed to give into the world's ways as Christians.I choose my music with much discernment and very very wisely by checking out the lyrics before I play it.
 
It's really too wide of a subject to be so condemning or supporting of all of it. Sure, some of it is from the devil, just like many things we deal with can have aspects or parts that are from the devil. And some of it is un-Biblical. If we're talking only secular rock, why would anyone ever expect all of it to be "Biblical"? That should go without saying. Christian rock of the devil? Yeah, that subject's been beaten to death on forums and in churches for years now, just like many of what today are considered our wonderful old hymns were accused of the same thing when they were new, and what some Christians like to think of as traditional and proper musical instruments, such as the organ or piano, were considered of the devil when they were first used in churches.

Some secular music speaks of sexual situations,infidelity.This world is comfortable with doing what they want to do.They won't make any sacrifices for God.Look what Christ did for us on the cross.

ok, so sports is out? is sports a sin? It can be. it can also not be a sin. some like volleyball. other don't. female volley ball players where less clothing then others in sports. is that a sin? for me that would be enough to avoid it but not all girls do that. mma can be a sin to some. for me it isn't.

you like the 60s and 50s era tv shows, I know I can find something that promotes sin in those.

You are talking about a whole different animal when you are talking sports.But television,movies,music,books,and video games in the area that a Christian should have morals and values and pick what they think would be exceptible to God.

like there isn't sport video games? mma. boxing have ring girls. and well there is also sin in those sports. ie women that simply throught them selves at the sports figures because they have $$$$. betting on games etc.

Of course, that's exactly my point. Some is like that, and some isn't. It's too broad of a subject to either support or condemn all of it at once.

My kids and I used to play sports games.They were fun.But now the world and Satan does not want children and this world to have innocent things to play or do.My son and I have had to make sacrifices.Huge sacrifices.We think they are worth it because God loves us.And we love Him back and want to please Him.Not this world.

I listen to some secular music.Mostly older stuff.But I look at the lyrics before I play it.I could have cared less 15 years ago.I was not the same person then that I am now.

did your son enter into college and professional sports? where the temptation is greater? I don't fight in the ufc, I have stepped into a kick boxing ring twice. lost them matches. it was fun but I cant do that now. if it wasn't for my back injury. I might be fighting but again there is grey area. trust me If I had a video of the ufc game Nathan plays where it shows blood spattered as you hit your opponent then you would see my case. that does happen in live matches. seen it!

My son is disabled.He is very,very sick.I take care of him.
 
don't assume that sports doesn't have sin. it does. any thing we do can have sin it. I don't listen to secular music but I know that outside of the bible I can find something wrong with each thing.

many Christians love cs.lewis and jrr. Tolkien. both are great for entertainment but theres magic in that. I have seen Christians love them and despise harry potter. ok doesn't potter have magic? and doesn't the trilogy have magic and chronicles have magic? yup.
