I modified this image until I liked it. I have a sordid love affair with the Crusades, like two lovers in a tiff who can't get enough of one another. For that reason, my visual work often revolves around knights (both from the Crusades and not).
A Reminder to the Accuser
Vanquished, you think, but clearly I'm not.
I'm knelt on the ground but holding this spot.
I'm knocked from my horse, that much you see,
But that does not mean that you've beaten me.
I'm still in this fight, just taking a rest.
Feeling my heart still pound in my chest.
While you underestimate all I can do,
I'll stand from this place and run you right through.
I'm not the strongest or brightest one here,
But when facing my sin I go without fear.
No, wait! I'm afraid, but I swallow it back,
Then turn 'round and yell to sound the attack.
It's not me who wins, though I fight the good fight.
It's not for my glory I stand in this night.
It's not my own strength or honor or I bring;
I'll fight you and all Hell for the love of my King.
