I recently picked a free one up and wanted to know if there was anything wrong with it. My Mom was VERY reluctant to let me read and have it for some reason.

The Gideons use the KJV or, if the organization where they'll be distributing specifically asks the NKJV, which they refer to as the Modern English Version.

Perhaps your mom is confusing them with the JW's New World Translation?

But no, there is nothing wrong with their bibles.

Nothing wrong with it. As Dora said, it's usually a KJV.

They're basically good people. :yes

Curse those Gideons for wanting to make the Bible understandable to people born within the last century...

Well Gideon's should have stayed with the KJV and not have replaced it with the NKJV.

I could pick out the errors in the NKJV very easily.

I believe the KJV is perfect.

I'll let you believe what you will.

What is wrong with the New King James Version (NKJV)?
Ah I get your point. In my opinion no Bible is perfect because even the KJV has taken words and re phrased them. Because it did not stick with the original commandments every Atheist thinks God is a hypocrite.
