Honesty and Fairness

The LORD abhors dishonest scales,
but accurate weights are his delight.

Honest scales and balances are from the LORD;
all the weights in the bag are of his making.
Proverbs 16:11

The LORD detests differing weights,
and dishonest scales do not please him.
Proverbs 20:23

You are to use accurate scales, an accurate ephah and an accurate bath.
Ezekiel 45:10

The merchant uses dishonest scales; he loves to defraud.
Hosea 12:7

Am I still to forget, O wicked house,
your ill-gotten treasures
and the short ephah, which is accursed?
Shall I acquit a man with dishonest scales,
with a bag of false weights?
Micah 6:10-11

Quality Assurance and Standards - They were in charge of the bread set out on the table, the flour for the grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baking and the mixing, and all measurements of quantity and size. 1Chronicles 23:29

The Levites were charged with ensuring that the quality and standards of offerings to God were maintained at an acceptable level. Similarly, businessmen should maintain standards and quality of produce and service.

Hear this, you who trample the needy
and do away with the poor of the land,
saying,
"When will the New Moon be over
that we may sell grain,
and the Sabbath be ended
that we may market wheat?"â€â€
skimping the measure,
boosting the price
and cheating with dishonest scales,
buying the poor with silver
and the needy for a pair of sandals,
selling even the sweepings with the wheat.
The LORD has sworn by the Pride of Jacob: "I will never forget anything they have done.
Amos 8:4-7
But let the exacting of usury stop!
Nehemiah 5:10

Graft
who lends his money without usury
and does not accept a bribe against the innocent.
He who does these things
will never be shaken.
Psalm 15:5
