Hi WIP,
I don't really intend to be on this thread...
I just want to make one observation about what you and jaybo are discussing....

We must give some credit to Jaybo...
he does make a good point.
The NT speaks of many sins but the sin of homosexuality does seem to bother us more.

Maybe there's a reason (and I haven't read every post, someone might have said this).

I've seen the change in the LGBT community over the past 50 years.
They were maligned and made fun of.
Today they're allowed to get married and we see these couples openly expressing themselves in the open for all to see. (I don't care for this in heterosexual couples either BTW).
Somehow, though it took many decades, we have somehow come to have to accept this lifestyle, at least in a legal and societal manner - even if we know it's not a moral way to live.

But the other sins are not moral either !

The difference , IMHO, is that we've been conditioned to believe that homosexuality is OK...that it's just another lifestyle,,,they've done a good job of convincing everyone that it's perfectly fine with the world to be immoral in the name of love.

They do something no other sinner does:
Have thieves tried to convince us in the past 50 years that stealing is OK and we should just accept it?
Do we believe lying is OK today when 50 years ago we did not?
Are we still upset at adultery or do we accept it these days?

The homosexual has changed our society and its morals.
The other sinners sins have not.
They have not tried to convince us that their sins are OK and acceptable today.
And this is what makes us upset...at least that's what makes me upset.
I understand what you're saying but consider how the social attitude has changed regarding heterosexual misbehaviors over the years. Laws were once far more strict than they are today regarding sexual activity outside of marriage and even inside marriage. Over time and particularly moving faster beginning with the sexual revolution of the 1960s, we have been conditioned to accept as normal that two people can meet and within hours or minutes they are stripping off their clothing in a steamy sex scene.

Look at how television and movie censorship has changed over the years. I was watching part of an episode of the Dick Van Dyke show the other day and they depicted their bedroom as a married couple with separate beds. Today, with sexual explicit scenes and sexual innuendos, prime time television barely stops short of full frontal nudity, leaving almost nothing to the imagination and marriage is not in the equation.

I enjoy watching some of the old westerns like Gunsmoke or Rawhide. I have been surprised to notice how many references to Scripture there are in those programs. Imagine the ratings if that was done today!

Pay attention to how many sitcoms place sex, drugs, and drunkenness at the forefront of the comedy. How about the language used? There are only a handful of vulgar words not openly expressed, including the use of God's name in vain, on daytime or prime time television today.

What about how people treat others? The concept of vigilante justice and vengeance is portrayed as noble and righteous, which is just the opposite of what God instructs of us.

I know it seems I am focusing on the television and big screen media but these two have a profound impact on everyone.

How easy is it for anyone of any age to dabble in the world of pornography, even at its raunchiest form? And let's not forget bestiality. I kid you not, it wasn't that long ago I ran across a FB post graphically depicting a woman engaged sexually with a horse and it was not animated. Talk about turning one's stomach. It is extremely difficult to nearly impossible for parents to compete with this kind of onslaught while trying to raise their children with Christian ethical moral values and it continues to get worse all the time.

Maybe I'm in a minority but I do not focus more on homosexuality than I do other sins. I have friends that are or have been in same sex relationships both here on CFnet and in my personal life. I have friends that have struggled with the ills of alcohol and drug abuse. All three of my children lived with their significant others without being married. Happily, two of them have now married but our youngest daughter and her boyfriend have not yet taken that step. It's truly discouraging to see them take that path after all the years spent trying to teach them Christian values but as the adage goes, you can lead a horse to water but you cannot make it drink.

Hi WIP
If you understood what I was saying, then I said it wrong OR I don't understand what's going on over there.

I agree totally with everything you stated above.
Same here,,,,our morals are being corrupted. I agree. Couples live together here too and are happy to state this with no shame involved.

Focusing on homosexuality is NOT wrong. Maybe we should have focused more on it 50 years ago instead of assuming it would never progress?? I think the horse is out of the barn now.

But here's my point...:
Do you agree that thieves are not trying to convince us that stealing is OK?
Do you agree that they are not trying to make it acceptable to society?

Instead the LGBT community has done exactly this and this is the reason it is upsetting.

You're right. As a general group, thieves don't do this. For one thing, stealing is illegal even in secular society, and to openly promote stealing would bring investigation. Homosexuality has not been illegal and punishable by our laws for quite some time, if ever. It just wasn't accepted and considered something to be ashamed of. So there is that difference.

On the other hand, I have experienced pressure from some to live outside the law. I'll give you one example. My wife, on more than one occasion, has ridiculed me about my honesty when it comes to reporting tax deductions. She thinks I'm nuts. We have a small hobby farm and we own a few horses. I'm sure I could get away with it, at least for a while, if I claimed the feed and veterinary expenses as tax deductions against our farming but we are not actively trying to gain an income from our horses. We don't breed them, use them in competitive circles, use them for training, etc., so by definition they are just pets and not a legal tax deduction. I'd be willing to bet that in most cases, this is not how things are done.

The North American Man/Boy Love Association(NAMBLA) is a pedophilia and pederasty advocacy organization in the United States. It works to abolish age-of-consent laws criminalizing adult sexual involvement with minors[2][3] and campaigns for the release of men who have been jailed for sexual contacts with minors that did not involve what it considers coercion.[2][4] The group no longer holds regular national meetings, and as of the late 1990s—to avoid local police infiltration—the organization discouraged the formation of local chapters.[4][5] Around 1995, an undercover detective discovered there were 1,100 people on the organization's rolls.[4] NAMBLA was the largest group in IPCE, an international pro-pedophile activist organization.[6] Since then, the organization has dwindled to only a handful of people, with many members joining online pedophile networks, according to Xavier Von Erck, director of operations at the anti-pedophile organization Perverted-Justice.[7] As of 2005, a newspaper report stated that NAMBLA was based in New York and San Francisco.[4]
