I am learning that not all offences are easily over came. I almost just want to avoid some people and protect myself and family. Avoiding someone and truly forgiving them is not the same thing. It is healthy to stay far from someone who hurts you? Learning to forgive them?

The Lord asks us to forgive. It is much more difficult if they have not apologized. It is mainly for our benefit so we do not harbor bitterness. We do not have to see or have a relationship with this person who has hurt us.

This is a pamphlet I used in Behavioral Therapy work I used to do. (REBT) It is unusual in that it is reinforced with Biblical scripture relating to the basic therapy examples. You may find quite a bit of it helpful.

Forgiving someone does not mean you have to allow them to hurt you again.
