Many of you have probably already heard about this story. I thought I would put up an official prayer request for him.
His name is Youcef Nadarkhani. For the last several years, he's been at odds with the Iranian legal system for his belief in Christ, but was ultimately arrested when he attempted to establish a youth outreach church in a nation where Sharia governs the land.
The situation came to a head earlier this year when Iran's clerics announced he would be executed for blasphemy against Islam; however, they've backed away from that immediate decision in the face of international pressure. Since then, Youcef has sat in an Iranian jail where he's been undoubtedly been subjected to ceaseless propaganda. Eventually, he will be given a choice - renounce Christ and embrace Islam, or suffer possible execution still.
One can only imagine the pressure that this brave and courageous brother is under. In my opinion, he exemplifies the courage and perseverance of a follower that Christ would expect from all of us. We should all offer Youcef in prayer and may God's everlasting glory be shone upon the world through Youcef's life.
