PRAYER UPDATE FROM ISRAEL (OCTOBER 18, 2005) - see link @ end

1. SUCCOT...THE FESTIVAL OF BOOTHS, IN JERUSALEM.
Israel has moved into Succot, the Feast of Booths (or "Tabernacles").
It began at sundown Monday evening and lasts for eight days, a festival
of Joy beginning and ending with a day of rest. Succot is described in
Leviticus 23:39-43. Israelites were to take "foliage of beautiful
trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook,
and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days" (NASU).
Succot takes its name from the little rude temporary huts or tents which
the Israelites dwelt in during their sojourn from the land of Egypt.
Today Jews prepare these little rooms outside on their porches or in the
yard, covering them with the "foliage" and often decorating them in
much the same way as Christians in the West decorate Christmas trees (In
fact, it was during this season of Succot that most scholars believe
Yeshua [Jesus] was born in Bethlehem). It is customary for Israelis to
sit in the succot for meals or for times of refreshment with friends and
family. Some actually sleep in their succa.
This is the season when there are more Christians from the nations
visiting than at any other specific time of the year. Several
organizations such as the Christian Embassy sponsor festivals of worship, praise
and teaching which are attended by thousands. Groups of intercessors
move out over the city, visiting established congregations and worship
ministries, praying and proclaiming God's Word at strategic sites,
worshipping, rejoicing, fellowshipping with Israeli believers.
PLEASE PRAY:
*For revelation to come to Jews in Israel and throughout the world, as
they sit in their succas. These little buildings are "a picture of
man's sojourn under God's wings." Pray that the Holy Spirit will visit
succas-to awaken a longing for nearness to the God of their Fathers, and
prepare their hearts to receive the Gift of God-"Eternal Life"- which
was first given to Israel on Succot!
*For protection over the Believers visiting Israel at this time...over
their bodies, souls and spirits. The evil one tries to send in many
"wandering stars" (Jude 13) during this time to cause confusion and to
compromise the purity of the celebration.
*For a holy spirit of the Fear of the Lord to be over Believers
worshipping in our city throughout the Feast of Tabernacles. Zechariah 2:13
says in the Hebrew, "Hush! all flesh, before the LORD, for He is aroused
from His holy habitation." Pray for strength and determination in
worshippers to hush their flesh, and offer up worship "in Spirit and in
Truth".
*Pray for those intercessors whom the Lord has sent, that they hear
clearly their assignments from the Holy Spirit and move in prophetic focus
and accuracy in accomplishing that which God has sent them to
accomplish.
2. SEEKING TO "DRAW WATER" FROM WELLS OF SALVATION.
As many of you will have heard, a little over a year ago it was
announced that archaeologists have discovered the original Shiloach pool...the
"Pool of Siloam" (Nehemiah 3:15; Luke 13:4, John 9:7, 11). Great tiers
of steps have been unearthed. Although the waters are not at this time
emptying there as in earlier days (there is a pool a few dozen yards
away receiving waters from Hezekiah's tunnel), Orthodox Jews are very
excited about this discovery. It was from here that in ancient times
water was taken and brought up to the Temple during Succot to be poured
out by the altar as Isaiah 12:3 was repeated or sung: "You shall draw
water with joy out of the wells of Salvation".
On the Feast of Trumpets there were hundreds of religious Jews joyously
gathered at this place. And yesterday there were large newspaper adds
for a large celebration at the Shiloach Spring, "the water drawing
source for the libation ceremonies of the First Temple" to take place this
Thursday (October 20th). It was on the occasion of the "pouring out"
or water from this spring during a Succot almost 2000 years ago that
Yeshua (Jesus) highlighted His mission as Messiah by crying out, "If
anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as
the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within
him" (John 7:37-39). And it was to this pool that He sent a blind man
to wash and be healed. The word "shiloach" has to do with "sending".
PLEASE PRAY:
*That the awakening spiritual thirst which is drawing Jews to this site
would be intensified. That Jews would long to "draw water from the
wells of Salvation" -and seek the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for
revelation as to the source of those wells (the word for "Salvation" here
is "Yeshuah"...the root of which appears in the name Yeshua (Jesus).
*That angels would attend this place, that the power of religious
spirits would be held back and the Holy Spirit would be free to do His work.
*That miracles would be released again from this place...in the name of
Yeshua the Messiah, and that born-again Jews would be sent out bearing
testimony of the Water of Life.
3. TISH-SU-A WEAR TO SPOIL AND PLUNDER THE ENEMY!
On October 4th we entered the Hebrew year 5766. In Biblical Hebrew
there is a numbering system made up of Hebrew letters. The number for
5766 is tav-shin-samach-vav. It is unusual, but this year these letters
actually spell a Hebrew verb, "tish-su", which literally means, "YOU
(Plural) WILL PLUNDER" (a future tense of the 2nd person plural of
"shasa"-see Strongs/Brown-Driver-Briggs 8154-SPOIL,PLUNDER).
While by no means considering this to incorporate the entire "meaning"
of this year, we would suggest that it is no coincidence that this word
would arise following a season in which many prophecies have been
loosed regarding entrance into a time of spoiling our enemies.
PLEASE PRAY:
*That this would be a year when Messianic Jews and Christian Arabs in
Israel move into the offensive--that they come into a new strategic
level of Spiritual Warfare, that they do exploits and break into and
plunder the camp of the evil one, taking back that which is rightfully theirs
and spoiling the enemy's camp in the name of and for the glory of King
Yeshua.
