I'm contemplating a woodworking project, and I'm trying to decide what tools would be best suited to the job.
I'm going to have to do some joint work, either lap or mortise and tenon, but I'm also going to have to drill some extremely precise blind holes (accurate to .001") as well as cutting some venting slots. My project is a new computer case made from plexiglass and red oak, held together with .125" brass pins. My intent is to do all the cutting and drilling, and then assemble and finish it.
I used to do machine work on firearms, and I know how to use a vertical mill very well, but I don't have access to one and am considering purchasing a small hobby-sized vertical mill. In looking for one, I've come across some sites that recommend the use of a router for some of this kind of work, but I've never used one and really don't know how precise they are.
Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
