Does your child have a MySpace? MINE DOES! I found this service offered by http://www.BeNetSafe.com which searches for your child’s information on the Internet. If found, it reports in clear detail what information your child is leaving on the Internet, in public for all to see. If you would like to try this or have any questions please call 888-400-4040. Also, I got a large discount code cuz I gave feedback about the service. Ask for Christine or email Calton @ benetsafe.com.

this is just pathetic....
some idiot kid gives someone his adress and agrees to meet a sex offender and gets kiled thats the kids fault and the parents fault for not taaching the kid not to go have sex with strangers

Morg,

I am not sure what you are upset about. Honestly, children will deceive their parents in order to "join" their friends online. There are great ways to protect children. I give seminars on this subject (cybersafetyseminar.com) and know that in the mind of the child, they want to be part of a "community". They are looking for acceptance, not for trouble. However, there are sick people out there attempting to prey on them. We would not allow our children to play on a highway because of its danger. Why then do we allow them to play, without protection on the information highway? My advice in my seminar is to get a good filter!

Um, just plain and simple no.
You don't know the mind of a child because not all teenagers and kids are the same. From what I'm reading it seems as if you advocate sheltering them. Only problem with that is when they hit the real world everything you've kept from them will explode onto thier minds at once. And no it isn't about being part of a ''community'' if that was the case explain the growing number of anti social kids or 'emo'. Many teens could care less about acceptance. I have a myspce but its only to chat with friends its the same as an instant messenger and if your dumb enough to meed a rapist then you get what you asked for.

Gorm,

(Ps. 61:3-4), "For You have been a shelter for me, A strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings."

(Rom. 12:1-2), "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

God does tell us to shelter our children, just as He shelters us. Again, I would not allow my children to play near a highway. Little children are just too young to understand the dangers. I think a 13 year old is too young to understand the dangers of the internet.

Proverbs tells the young man to not even walk down the street where prostitutes stand. I honestly think many a young man is walking down the street while on the internet.

As I stated before, I pray that parents will protect their children and get a filter.

By the way, their are some children who "go wild" as you say, when they have their restrictions lifted. But after 20 years of working with young people, far more, and I mean FAR MORE children wash out spiritually and make very poor life choices when they are not sheltered.

There was a brief moment in time when I had a Myspace page, and one day I was surfing for one of my favorite musical artists. I found his official Myspace page, and saw his comments loaded with ads for kiddie porn.

That pretty much put an end to my Myspace experience. :-D

Lincoln,

Wow! That is too bad. For the record, many artists automatically accept friends. The comments that these friends leave are not in their control. If they don't monitor the site you get the mess you saw. But it was not the artists "fault" and I am sure they did not support those sites.

But your point is well taken. We know who hangs out on these websites.

Nah, I don't blame the artist for it either. But it did take me completely by surprise. :o I do find a lot of Myspace pages are teenage oriented and contain many lewd photos and pictures, not to mention the design is so bad not even my superior Firefox browser can handle it. It's like an online ghetto. :o :o :o
