Protestant self-destruction is in the wind. If it's not to claim this major institution of Western Civilization the process must be identified admitted and corrected.
Indeed the process of self-destruction in the protestant church is well along and quite close to completion. Most either refuse to admit its happening or simply drop out when they see it. The protestant church is losing, not gaining, millions of adherents each year and nobody seems to care.
Scholars and sociologists have published magazine articles books and onLine statements regarding the collapse of the protestant church for decades. In the second decade of the twenty-first century, their warnings have fallen upon deaf unconcerned ears. Everybody has their own agenda and the church is no longer on the back burner. It's off the stove completely. Attempts to identify the source of the problems are legion. Here are a few:
Pastoral infallibility is a major reason for false doctrine in the protestant church. While both Roman Catholic and Orthodox churches have their own issues, their basic structure supports it. Protestantism has several built-in destruct mechanisms. One of them is pastoral infallibility. If a pastor promotes false doctrine NOBODY is allowed to criticize. If someone attempts to do so they are blocked either by pastoral attitudes of superiority and untouchability or unfounded loyalty of church membership. GONE are the days of humble stewardship on the part of protestant spiritual leaders.
Ignorance isn't bliss especially when it's promoted by protestant leadership. A common attitude among many protestant leaders is REJECTION of formal education and a logical approach to examination of scripture for guidance. Spiritual responsibility is in the garbage bin when Biblically illiterate persons ascend to the pulpit and lecture their congregations about matters of which they have little or no knowledge. Attempts by formally educated persons to assist with leadership are usually blocked and dismissed out of hand. Many persons in the congregation are better educated than the pastor, yet despite recognizing the necessity for formal education in any secular discipline they accept the lack of it on the part of pastors and pastoral staff. Ignorance is a major contributor to protestant implosion.
Missions are failing. Protestant churches, once famous for crusades that harvested new converts to Christ, have entirely collapsed. There are NO new converts to protestantism because protestant beliefs are incoherent and because churches aren't making any real effort to promote the gospel outside their walls. According to PEW research, a major statistical data base for religious activity, there are little or NO new converts to protestantism in recent years. Despite claims of uneducated and false pastors, there simply isn't anything going on to attract people to the protestant church. Names added to membership rolls are generally spiritual refugees from other churches that have corrupted themselves in one way or another. Mission failure is a contributor to protestant demise.
DEBT is rising. Protestant churches do not generally manage their contributed funds well. According to PEW and Gallup polls the average protestant church is in debt for between three and four million dollars. Without the influx of new members to fill out the religious taxes demanded of members the debt cannot be paid. Many protestant churches have already closed their doors forever because of unmanageable debt.
DENIAL OF THE BIBLE is a major reason for collapse of protestant churches. National leaders of several major denominations have declared the position that the Bible is A Word of God, not THE WORD OF GOD. The alteration of one word is simple, but implies the Bible is only one form of religious literature among many. They have declared there's nothing special about it. Consequently the Holy Spirit has departed from these denominations.
Immorality and denial of LAW is a major contributor to the collapse of protestant churches. In past centuries the protestant church relied upon a strict adherence to the LAW of God as given to Moses. Today it is denied vehemently. As a result all manner of false doctrine has crept into protestant assemblies and certified as truth when in fact it may be doctrines of demons. Nobody admits the loss of LAWful standards by which all interpretations may be justly weighed and measured. Coupled with massive ignorance and hatred of all things scholarly, the root of the protestant church has been cut.
Sexual immorality is approved. A major reason for the devolution of the protestant church is its acceptance of sexual immorality. Indeed the church was once a respected and incontrovertible institution in society. Today it isn't. Years ago the Gay Authority was despised and preached against. Today it's accepted. Look and see that the position of respect enjoyed by the church has been supplanted by the Gay Authority. Today the Gay Authority is respected admired and untouchable. The protestant church is despised and ridiculed. The position of the church and Gay Authority have changed places. The ancient citizens of the kingdom of Sodom would be proud.
