The modern idea of a prayer meeting for many churches is a quick Bible lesson and the collecting of prayer request. What do you think a prayer meeting should look like?

The prayer meetings I've been to, usually on Wednesday nights, have been just that. We will have about 15 or 30 minutes of Bible study and then we will go down the prayer list making adjustments, and then the pastor will open up with prayer. It is open for people to pray if they feel led to, but after a while if no one prays he will close with another prayer. One idea I have that might make prayer meetings more effective and more of a ministry is this: take one prayer request and have everyone pray over that request together, and then take another and do the same thing. It might make take a whole hour, but why not? Why not set aside the whole time for prayer instead of having Bible study. There are other times to have Bible study.
