Arsonists and careless people are more to blame for the wildfires starting. With some of the wildfires in the past, lightning was the cause.

Some areas of California are very dry, due to EPA's protection of some endangered species of fish(?) .... farmers cannot irrigate their lands due to this and homeowners cannot water their what used to be their lawns.

One man charged.
Ttwo teens started "at least two brush fires in San Diego's Escondido area," but not connected to other fires.
While any fire is investigated for arson these have come under more intense scrutiny than normal due to circumstances said not to add up.

8 out of 9 San Diego fires have ‘suspicious ignition point’: report

Eight of the nine fires that San Diego firefighters are battling have a suspicious ignition point, meaning they didn’t start normally, a local ABC affiliate reported.

Sources told the station that the fires didn’t start from a lawnmower or car engine starting, or from a discarded cigarette butt.

To think that irrigation is a sustainable solution is foolish thinking. Rain is the only long term health way for a area to stay alive, if the rains have chance it time to move folks!

why am I not surprised. so save the fishy and kill the habitat and food sources for the animals.i know there has to be a balance. doesn't California have some deep wells or something to used for water?

Yeah I agree. If people move into natural desert areas like Nevada or some parts of California they should expect the land to be kinda... dry.
It's irrepsonsible to deplete natural water sources like lakes just so they can irrigate their lawns. If they want to have a nicely watered lawn they should move to Portland. :lol
Irrigation works fine in an environment where the water you pour over your fields stays within the water circulation of that area. But pumping the water of a lake into a desert where it's basically lost, except for the nice looking lawn, is just a sad waste of precious water.

farming? where does one get oranges from?its not florida. Florida's oranges are juiced and California's eaten. grapes , raisins. theres water im sure in California that is deep. I will say this even in Afghanistan we had water to waste. it was there, just got to dig the wells. besides Afghanistan wasn't a desert until the ruskies did that to it.
