Appendix 23

It is only by the Divine specific act of creation that any created being can be called "a son of God". For that which is "born of the flesh is flesh". God is spirit, and that which is "born of the Spirit is spirit" (John 3:6). Hence Adam is called a "son of God" in Luke 3:38. Those "in Christ" having "the new nature" which is by the direct creation of God (2Cor. 5:17. Eph. 2:10) can be, and are called "sons of God" (John 1:13. Rom. 8:14, 15. 1John 3:1). (*1)

This is why angels are called "sons of God" in every other place where the expression is used in the Old Testament. Job 1:6; 2:1; 38:7. Ps. 29:1; 89:6. Dan. 3:25 (no art.). (*2) We have no authority or right to take the expression in Gen. 6:2, 4 in any other sense. Moreover, in Gen. 6:2 the Sept. renders it "angels".

Angels are called "spirits" (Ps. 104:4. Heb. 1:7, 14), for spirits are created by God.

That there was a fall of the angels is certain from Jude 6.

The nature of their fall is clearly stated in the same verse. They left their own oijkhthvrion (oiketerion). This word occurs only in 2Cor. 5:2 and Jude 6, where it is used of the spiritual (or resurrection) body.

The nature of their sin is stated to be "in like manner" to that of the subsequent sins of Sodom and Gomorrha, Jude 7.

The time of their fall is given as having taken place "in the days of Noah" (1Pet. 3:20. 2Pet. 2:7), though there may have been a prior fall which caused the end of "the world that then was" (Gen. 1:1, 2. 2Pet. 3:6).

For this sin they are "reserved unto judgment", 2Pet. 2:4, and are "in prison", 1Pet. 3:19.

Their progeny, called Nephilim (translated "giants"), were monsters of iniquity; and, being superhuman in size and character, had to be destroyed (see Ap. 25). This was the one and only object of the Flood.

Only Noah and his family had preserved their pedigree pure from Adam (Gen. 6:9, see note). All the rest had become "corrupt" (shachath) destroyed [as Adamites]. the only remedy was to destroy it (de facto), as it had become destroyed (de jure). (It is the same word in v. 17 as in vv. 11, 12.) See further under Ap. 25 on the Nephilim.

This irruption of fallen angels was Satan's first attempt to prevent the coming of the Seed of the woman foretold in gen. 3:15. If this could be accomplished, God's Word would have failed, and his own doom would be averted.

As soon as it was made known that the Seed of the woman was to come through ABRAHAM, there must have been another irruption, as recorded in Gen. 6:4, "and also after that" (i.e. after the days of Noah, more than 500 years after the first irruption). The aim of the enemy was to occupy Canaan in advance of Abraham, and so to contest its occupation by his seed. For, when Abraham entered Canaan, we read (Gen. 12:6) "the Canaanite was then (i.e. already) in the land."

In the same chapter (Gen. 12:10-20) we see Satan's next attempt to interfere with Abraham's seed, and frustrate the purpose of God that it should be in "Isaac". This attempt was repeated in 20:1-18.

This great conflict may be seen throughout the Bible, and it forms a great and important subject of Biblical study. In each case the human instrument had his own personal interest to serve, while Satan had his own great object in view. Hence God had, in each case, to interfere and avert the evil and the danger, of which his servants and people were wholly ignorant. The following assaults of the great Enemy stand out prominently :--

The destruction of the chosen family by famine, Gen. 50:20.

The destruction of the male line in Israel, Ex. 1:10, 15, &c. Cp. Ex. 2:5. Heb. 11:23.

The destruction of the whole nation in Pharaoh's pursuit, Ex. 14.

After David's line was singled out (2Sam. 7), that was the next selected for assault. Satan's first assault was in the union of Jehoram and Athaliah by Jehoshaphat, notwithstanding 2Chron. 17:1. Jehoram killed off all his brothers (2Chron. 21:4).

The Arabians slew all his children, except Ahaziah (2Chron. 21:17; 22:1).

When Ahaziah died, Athaliah killed "all the seed royal" (2Chron. 22:10). the babe Joash alone was rescued; and, for six years, the faithfulness of Jehovah's word was at stake (2Chron. 23:3).

Hezekiah was childless, when a double assault was made by the King of Assyria and the King of Terrors (Isa. 36:1; 38:1). God's faithfulness was appealed to and relied on (Ps. 136).

In Captivity, Haman was used to attempt the destruction of the whole nation (Est. 3:6, 12, 13. Cp. 6:1).

Joseph's fear was worked on (Matt. 1:18-20). Notwithstanding the fact that he was "a just man", and kept the Law, he did not wish to have Mary stoned to death (Deut. 24:1); hence Joseph determined to divorce her. But God intervened : "Fear not".

Herod sought the young Child's life (Matt. 2).

At the Temptation, "Cast Thyself down" was Satan's temptation.

At Nazareth, again (Luke 4), there was another attempt to cast Him down and destroy Him.

The two storms on the Lake were other attempts.

At length the cross was reached, and the sepulcher closed; the watch set; and the stone sealed. But "God raised Him from the dead." And now, like another Joash, He is seated and expecting (Heb. 10:12, 13), hidden in the house of God on high; and the members of "the one body" are hidden there "in Him" (Col. 3:1-3), like another Jehoshaba; and going forth to witness of His coming, like another Jehoiada (2Chron. 23:3).

The irruption of "the fallen angels" ("sons of God") was the first attempt; and was directed against the whole human race.

When Abraham was called, then he and his seed were attacked.

When David was enthroned, then the royal line were attacked.

And when "the Seed of the woman" Himself came, then the storm burst upon Him.

(*1) The word "offspring" in Acts 17:28 is quite different. It is gevnos (genos), which means merely kin or kind, our genus as being originated by God.

There's a lot of errors in what you are saying and I don't wish to go into it at this time, and baste on my experience (I could be wrong) I don't believe you would be willing to believe different either….. I am weary of getting into debates, though I may indulge from time to time.

The sons of God are those are born of the Holy Spirit

John 3:3-7 (ASV)
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born anew, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except one be born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God!
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born anew.

1 Peter 1:22-23 (Darby)
22 Having purified your souls by obedience to the truth to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another out of a pure heart fervently;
23 being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by [the] living and abiding word of God.

Matthew 5:9 (ASV)
9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called sons of God.
Romans 8:14 (ASV)
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

The sons of God in Genesis 6: 2-5 are those who were born from of the Holy Spirit. And the giants are simply tyrants or those who were in rebellion against God….sinners if you will.

Genesis 6:2-5 (KJV)
2 That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Giants:
Hebrew Word: â€Âנְפִילִי×Â‎
Transliteration: nepîlîm
Phonetic Pronunciation: nef-eel'
Root: from <H5307>
Cross Reference: TWOT - 1393a
Part of Speech: n m
Vine's Words: None

or nephil, nef-eel'; from <H5307> (naphal); properly, a feller, i.e. a bully or tyrant :- giant.

â€â€Strong's Talking Greek & Hebrew Dictionary

There were giants in the earthâ€â€Ã¢â‚¬Âנפלי×Â‎ nephilim, from â€Âנפל‎ naphal, "he fell." Those who had apostatized or fallen from the true religion. The Septuagint translate the original word by γιγανÄεÂ, which literally signifies earth-born, and which we, following them, term giants, without having any reference to the meaning of the word, which we generally conceive to signify persons of enormous stature. But the word when properly understood makes a very just distinction between the sons of men and the sons of God; those were the nephilim, the fallen earth-born men, with the animal and devilish mind. These were the sons of God, who were born from above; children of the kingdom, because children of God. Hence we may suppose originated the different appellatives given to sinners and saints; the former were termed γιγανÄεÂ, earth-born, and the latter, á¼Âγιοι, i.e. saints, persons not of the earth, or separated from the earth.
â€â€Adam Clarke's Commentary

Spirits and flesh cannot produce offspring; only human beings (a male and female in sexual intercourse) can produce an offspring. Evil spirits, even the faithful angels that serves God does not have the ability to impregnate a female human. Nowhere in the Bible can we find where demons or angels can mate with female human beings and produce children. Those who believe this assume that because it says the sons of God saw the daughters of men….that it is talking about evil spirits having sex with female humans and producing giants. They fail to understand that the sons of God are talking about Spirit filled human beings. Also, would God consider demons as His sons? Even Jesus when He was talking to the Pharisees, said that Satan was there father. Satan was their father because as He said, “The deeds of the devil they do.†It is our deeds that show who our father is, in God’s eyes, spiritually speaking. So evil spirits are not sons of God, because they do not do the work/things of God. They are sons in the sense that God created them, but they are not true sons of God as one that is born again of the Holy Spirit.

So it is clear for those who are willing to see that the sons of men mention in Genesis 6:2-5 is talking about human being that are in rebellion against God. In other words they are people who were not born again of the Spirit.

Job 38
1Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said,

2Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

3Gird up now thy loins like a man; for I will demand of thee, and answer thou me.

4Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.

5Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest? or who hath stretched the line upon it?

6Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

7When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

In verse 7 man has not been created yet(in the flesh)

As I have said, spirit angels and even evil spirit are called sons of God by vertue of the fact that God created them.....also I might add all human beings are also called sons of God.

Luke 3:38 (ASV)
38 the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

We must use wisdom studying the Bible.....what are we more loyal to, our tradtional belief or what the scriptures says? One sign that a person has the Holy Spirit is the willingness to change when you're proven wrong.

Don't think Im wrong, would be very willing to change if thus proven

It is only by the Divine specific act of creation that any created being can be called "a son of God". For that which is "born of the flesh is flesh". God is spirit, and that which is "born of the Spirit is spirit" (John 3:6). Hence Adam is called a "son of God" in Luke 3:38.

For this sin they are "reserved unto judgment", 2Pet. 2:4, and are "in prison", 1Pet. 3:19.

This Is Appendix 14 From The Companion Bible.

There are four principal Hebrew words rendered "man", and these must be carefully discriminated. Every occurrence is noted in the margin of The Companion Bible. They represent him from four different points of view :-

'Adam, denotes his origin, as being made from the "dust of the Adamah" ground (Latin homo).
'Ish, has regard to sex, a male (Latin vir).
'Enosh, has regard to his infirmities, as physically mortal, and as to character, incurable.
Geber, has respect to his strength, a mighty man.

'Adam, without the article, denotes man or mankind in general (Genesis 1:26; 2:5; 5:1, followed by plural pronoun). With the article, it denotes the man, Adam, though rendered "man" in Genesis 1:27; 2:7 (twice) 8,15,16,19 (margin), 22 (twice); 3:12,22,24; 5:1; 6:1 (rendered "men"), 2,3,4. After this, the Hebrew 'Adam = man or men, is used of the descendants of Adam. Hence, Christ is called "the son of Adam", not a son of Enosh.

With the particle ('eth) in addition to the article it is very emphatic, and means self, very, this same, this very,. See Genesis 2:7 (first occurrence), 8,15.

Rendered in the Septuagint (anthropos) 411 times; (aner) eighteen times (fifteen in Proverbs); once (thnetos), Proverbs 20:24 = dying; four times (brotos), mortal (all in Job); once (gegenes), earth-born, Jeremiah 32:20.

II.

'Ish. First occurrence in feminine, Genesis 2:23, 'ishah = woman. Therefore, 'ish = male, or husband ; a man, in contrast with a woman. A great man in contrast with ordinary men (Psalm 49:2, where "low" are called the children of Adam, and the "high" = children of 'ish. So Psalm 62:9 and Isaiah 2:9; 5:15; 31:8). When God is spoken of as man, it is 'ish (Exodus 15:3. So Joshua 5:13. Daniel 9:21; 10:5; 12:6,7. Zechariah 1:8, etc.). Also, in such expressions as "man of God", "man of understanding", etc. In the early chapters of Genesis we have it in chapters 3:22,24 and 4:1.

Translated in Septuagint 1,083 times by (aner), Latin vir, and only 450 by (anthropos), Latin homo.

It is rendered "husband" sixty-nine times, "person" twelve times, and once or twice each in thirty-nine different ways.

III.

'Enosh. First occurrence Genesis 6:4, men of name. Always in a bad sense (Isaiah 5:22; 45:14. Judges 18:25). Morally = depraved, and physically = frail, weak. It is from 'anash, to be sick, wretched, weak, and denotes inability, for strength, physically; and for good, morally (compare 2Samuel 12:15. Job 34:6. Jeremiah 15:18; 17:9; 30:12,15. Micah 1:9). Note the contrasts, Isaiah 2:11 and 17, "The lofty looks of man ('Adam) shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men ('Enosh) shall be bowed down" (compare Isaiah 13:12. Job 25:6. Psalms 8:4; 90:3; 144:3. Job 4:17; 10:5; 7:17. Daniel 4:16). Other instructive passages are Isaiah 8:1; 66:24. Ezekiel 24:17 (afflicted, or mourners. Compare Jeremiah 17:16, "day of man"). In 1Samuel 4:9 it is probably plural of 'Ish (so probably Genesis 18 and 19, where the indefinite plural must be interpreted by the context, because 'Adam would have denoted human, and 'Ish, males).
It is rendered "man" 518 times, "certain" eleven times, and once or twice each in twenty-four other and different ways.

IV.

Geber. first occurrence in Genesis 6:4 1, mighty men, and denotes man in respect of his physical strength, as 'Enosh does in respect of the depravity of his nature. It is rendered "man" sixty-seven times, "mighty" twice, "man child" once, "every one" once. In the Septuagint rendered fourteen times (anthropos) and the rest by (aner).

For illustrative passages see Exodus 10:11; 12:37. 1Samuel 16:18. 2Samuel 23:1. Numbers 24:3,15. 1Chronicles 26:12; 28:1. 2Chronicles 13:3. Ezra 4:21; 5:4,10; 6:8.

V.

Methim (plural) = adults as distinguished from children, and males as distinguished from females. Occurs Genesis 34:30. Deuteronomy 2:34; 3:6; 4:27; 26:5; 28:62; 33:6. 1Chronicles 16:19. Job 11:3,11; 19:19; 22:15; 24:12; 31:31. Psalm 17:14; 26:4; 105:12. Isaiah 3:25; 5:13; 41:14. Jeremiah 44:28.

NOTE
1 In Genesis 6:4, we have three out of the above four words: "daughters of men" (= daughters of [the man] 'Adam); "mighty men" = (geber); "men of renown" = Hebrew men ('Enosh) of name, that is to say, renowned for their moral depravity.

Gen 6:4
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. (KJV)

APPENDIX 194
"THE SPIRITS IN PRISON" (1 Peter 3.19).

A correct understanding of this passage may be obtained by noting the following facts:

1. Men are never spoken of in Scripture as "spirits". Man has a spirit, but he is not "a spirit", for "a spirit hath not flesh and bones". In this life man has "flesh and blood", a "natural" (or psychical) body. At death this spirit "returns to God Who gave it" (Ps 31.5. Eccles 12.7. Luke 23.46. Acts 7.59). In resurrection "God giveth it a body as it hath pleased Him" (I Cor 15.38). This is no longer a "natural" (or psychical) body, but a "spiritual body" (I Cor 15.44).

2. Angels are "spirits", and are so called (Heb 1.7,14).

3. In 2 Pet 2.4 we read of "the angels that sinned"; and in 1 Pet 3.19,20 of spirits "which sometime were disobedient ... in the days of Noah". In 2 Pet 2.4 we are further told that the fallen angels are reserved unto judgment, and delivered into chains (i.e.bondage or "prison"). Cp Jude 6.

4. The cause of their fall and the nature of their sin are particularly set forth by the Holy Spirit in Jude 6,7.

a. They "left their own habitation".

b. This "habitation" is called (in Greek) oiketerion, which occurs again only in 2 Cor 5.2, where it is

called our "house" (i.le.body) with which we earnestly long to be "clothed upon"; referring to the

"change" which shall take place in resurrection. This is the spiritual resurrection body of I Cor

15.44.

c. This spiritual body (or oiketerion) is what the angels "left" (whatever that may mean, and this we do

not know). The word rendered "left", here, is peculiar. It is apoleipo - to leave behind, as in 2 Tim

4.13,20, where Paul uses it of "the cloke" and the "parchments" which he left behind at Troas, and of

Trophimus whom he left behind at Miletum. Occ Heb 4.6,9; 10.26. Jude 6.

d. They "kept not their first estate (arche)" in which they were placed when they were created.

e. The nature of their sin is clearly stated. The sin of "Sodom and Gomorrha" is declared to be "in like

manner" to that of the angels; and what that sin was is described as "giving themselves over to

fornication, and going after strange flesh" (Jude 6,7). The word "strange" here denotes other, i.e.

different (Gr. heteros= different in kind. See Ap 124.2) What this could be, and how it could be, we

are not told. We are not asked to understand it, but to believe it. (see further in App 23 and 25).

5. In Gen 6.1,2,4 we have the historical record, which is referred to in the Epistles of Peter and Jude. There these "angels" are called "the sons of God". This expression in the Old Testament is used always of "angels", because they were not "begotten", but created, as Adam was created, and he is so called in Luke 3.38 (cp Gen 5.1). It is used of angels eight times : Gen 6.2 (*1) 4. Job 1.6; 2.1; 38.7. Ps 29.1 (R.V.m.); and Dan 3.25. In this last passage there is no article, and it does not mean "the Son of God", but "a son of God", i.e. an angel who was sent into the furnace (Dan 3.28), as one was into the den of lions (Dan 6.22). In one passage (Hos 1.10) the English expression is used of men, but there the Hebrew is different, and it refers only to what men should be "called", not to what they were.

6. Returning to I Pet 3.19, the expression "the spirits in prison" cannot be understood apart form the whole context. The passage commences with the word "For" (vs 17), and is introduced as the reason why "it is better, if the will of God should(so) will, to suffer for well-doing, than for evil-doing. FOR (vs18) Christ also suffered for sins once (Gr.hapax) - a Just One for unjust ones - in order that He might bring us to God, having been put to death indeed as to [His] flesh, but made alinve as to [His] spirit." This can refer only to His spiritual resurrection body (I Cor 15.45). In death His body was put in the grave (or sepulchre, i.e.Hades), Acts 2.31; but His spirit was "commended to God". Not until His spirit was reunited to the body in resurrection could He go elsewhere. And then He went not to "Gehenna", or back to Hades but to Tartarus (2 Pet 2.4. See Ap 131. III), where "the angels who sinned" had been "delivered into chains". To these He proclaimed His victory.

7. The word rendered "preached" is not the usual word euangelizo (Ap 121.4), but the emphatic word kerusso (Ap 121.1); which means to proclaim as a herald. Even so Christ heralded His victory over death, and the proclamation of this reached to the utmost bounds of creation.

It was "better" THEREFORE to suffer for well doing than for evil doing. He had suffered for well doing. He suffered, but He had a glorious triumph. "Therefore" (runs the exhortation), "if ye suffer for righteousness' sake, happy are ye" (vs 14), and it concludes "Forasmuch then as Christ suffered on our behalf as to the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind; for He that hath suffered in the flesh hath done with sin; no longer to live [our] remaining time according to men's lusts, but for God's will... For to this end, to those also who are now dead, were the glad tidings announced, that though (Gr. men)they might be judged according [to the will of] (*2) men, in [the]flesh, yet (Gr. de) they might live [again] according to [the will of] God, in [the] spirit" : i.e. in resurrection (I Pet 4.1,2,6).

The above is suggested as the intrepretation of the expression "the in-prison spirits", in the light of the whole of the nearer and remoter contexts.

(*1) In the first passage (Gen 6.2) the Alexandrine MS of the Septuagint has "angels" (not "sons), showing how it was then understood.

(*2) For the supply of this ellpsis see Rom 8.27,28, and cp. I Pet 4.19.

I have made my point as to who the sons of God and the sons of men are, I so as far as I am concern there is no need for me to continue an endless debate and getting off topic. I’m fully aware how difficult it is for one to see the truth when someone has believe error all their lives…..so whoever wants to continue to believe that angles or demons had intercourse with females that’s fine, I’ve done all that I can do.

Really did'nt start this thread for debate purposes anyway,so Im with you, believe what you will

What purpose would there be for an angelic assault of this nature? After the fall of Adam and Eve God pronounced judgment on them and the Earth. He also gave a promise that a messiah would come and crush the head of Satan Gen.3:15. What we see consistently throughout the scriptures is a satanic attack to corrupt the line of the messiah. This was his first and probably greatest attempt to pollute the line (gene pool), stopping the seed from appearing. By introducing something foreign to the human race, man would eventually become a hybrid, part human and angel, something God never intended. This would have been disastrous because Christ would then not be able to represent man who was made in the image of God. It would be for this reason god took such a drastic measure to rectify this event.

We should take notice that while this attacked the families of mankind, Noah was undefiled by this activity. Gen. 6:9 “This is the genealogy of Noah. Noah was a just man, perfect in his generations. Noah walked with God.†He was perfect meaning without spot or blemish, healthy his family was not affected by the invasion to defile the “gene pool'“ of mankind.

With all this information of the antediluvian world in the Old Testament can we find any parallel accounts in the New Testament? Yes we can. We can find even greater detail on these particular angels and how and why they were judged. Without the Gen.6 account referring to angelic beings we are left empty handed on why these particular angels are bound until the end of time.

2 Pt.2:4-5: “For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to Tartarus, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment; And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly.â€Â

“The angels that sinned†some interpret as the rebellion in heaven. This could not mean Satans rebellion, because we would have no demonic angels against mankind today if they were all incarcerated. The question is, how did they sin? It is Judes explanation that gives light to what Peter is speaking about.

Jude 6-7: “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.â€Â

Both of these events are described as pre-flood. Both Peter and Jude place these events between false prophets and Sodom and Gomorrah. Both accounts are in the context of sin and fornication of these cities. (going after a different kind of flesh then there own type Rom. 1:26,27.) Jude draws a comparison with the sin of Sodom and the angels, Both departed from their own nature to go after unnatural desires. Because of this rebellion they are confined in chains in Tartarus. This is a location in Hell specifically for the angels. these angels were involved in such an extraordinary sin that they needed incarceration until judgment day.

In the Scripture we have recorded two apostasy's of angels. The first occurred in heaven with the rebellion of Lucifer the chief cherubim who had one third of the good angels follow his lead (Ezek. 28:14-16) and were confirmed in their fallen state. The second apostasy is mentioned in 2nd Pt. and Jude in which they abandoned their assigned place of residence to invade another that was off limits to them. the author Jude writes of these angels who sinned and then parallels their sin with sexual immorality.

This incarceration in chains until judgment day gives us further insight of who these angels are. If the sin mentioned in 2nd Pt. were the original fall of the angels which occurred in heaven, then all the evil angels would be in chains, not just some. This would mean that Satan and all the angels would be bound and would not be active today. Obviously this is not correct so the only explanation is a separate event which prompted the Lord to keep them apart from us never to repeat this heinous act again. It seems these particular angelic beings were more inclined to evil than the others that they left their assigned place in the heavens to defile the whole human race. So they could have been a certain class of angels as there are numerous different creatures described in heaven. The Apostle Peter refers to the spirits in prison more than once. In 1 Pt. 3:19-20 he states that after Christ died he went and “preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah.†this preaching was not the good news but to proclaim, announce their inevitable judgment, again we find the time of this being pre-flood.

In summary we see from numerous parallel scriptures that this marriage of Gen. 6 was disastrous for humanity. That the offspring of this union lead mankind into activities that are promoted by Demons. Their offspring were called the fallen ones, super human in strength and intelligence that became world renown. that the legends of the Gods in mythology probably are a distortion of a true event just as they have distortions of the flood. That the Lord intervened with a cataclysm in which only eight people were saved. There is no line of Sethites to found afterward. That this behavior is consistent of the fallen angels trying to pollute the line of the messiah. That the word Sons of God is used exclusively for angels in the Old Testament, not man. The weight of the evidence with the information we have does seem to conclude that the Sons of God are indeed the fallen angels.

I have ANOTHER explanation for you to consider:

How about I ask a couple of quesitons and you come up with the answers and allow YOUR OWN conclusions to be based upon what YOU yourself are ABLE to see in YOUR OWN answers.

IF Adam and Eve were the ONLY two people created, how is it that there are 'other races'?

When it is stated that Noah was 'a just man and PERFECT IN HIS GENERATIONS', what do you THINK that this MEANS; Perfect in his generations?

Was ADAM 'not' a Son of God? and were NOT the daughters of Adam and Eve; 'daughters of man'?

Did Adam and Eve KNOW of copulation PREVIOUS to their EYES being opened? And if NOT, then HOW do we explain the first Chapter of Genesis stating to BE FRUITFUL and multiply and the INDICATION that men and women were created 'at the SAME time'?

Answer these and it will certainly LEAD to a 'better understanding'.

Adam and Eve were not the first people created, the races were created first, male and female

Genesis 6:9 "These are THE GENERATIONS OF NOAH; Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Hoah walked with God."

The term, "and perfect in his generations," is referring only to his ancestry.
Both Noah, and his wife came from families which are recorded in the scriptures, as not mixing with the fallen angels.

The word "generations" in the Hebrew text is # 8735 in Strong's Hebrew Dictionary, and comes from the Hebrew prime; "Toledoth", and means family tree, or history. When we take "family history called "perfect", in the Hebrew text it is called "tamin", that family is "without blemish as to breed, or pedigree".

This verse does not speak of Noah's moral perfection, but tells us that he and his family had preserved their pedigree, and kept it pure, inspite of the prevailing corruption brought about by the fallen angels, [their children were called "Nephilim"].

Yes Adam was a son of God as we all are His sons and daughters, but I feel the difference was well explained in previous post on the subject

The answer to your last question is again,Adam and Eve were not the first people, and they were not told to be fruitful and multiply.

It was on the sixth day that both man and woman of all races were formed, and each after their kind. Yet all forms of mankind red, yellow, black [brown], or white are all created in the image of God.

In chapter three Satan attacked the woman, Eve, to destroy the future seed that would bruise His [Satan's] head. That seed is Jesus Christ, the "Tree of Life". He tried to destroy the womb of the woman by polluting the lineage, and now, as much as he could not accomplish that, he is going to send some of his fallen angels, as mentioned in Jude 6, to complete the task.

You must understand the reason and what really happened in the garden

If you don't understand the beginning, you won't understand the end

Their progeny, called Nephilim (translated "giants"), were monsters of iniquity; and, being superhuman in size and character, had to be destroyed (see Ap. 25). This was the one and only object of the Flood.

This is quite wrong. For a start, if this was the goal, it failed
Gen 6:4a (ESV)
'The Nephilim were on the earth in those days, and also afterward'
after what? The flood

Also God says that his goal in the flood is to wipe out humanity, except Noah and his family

Gen 6:7 (ESV)So the LORD said, "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them."

This doesn't say it is to wipe out the nephilim.
