Understanding Who and What is the Babylon of Revelation.

Revelation 17:1-5
1 And there came one of the seven angels which had the seven vials, and talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many waters:
2 With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.
3 So he carried me away in the spirit into the wilderness: and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.
4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication:
5 And upon her forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon The Great, The Mother Of Harlots And Abominations Of The Earth.

The physical city of Babylon was originally built by Nimrod after the flood and was by the Euphrates River. The name Babylon came from the Tower of Babel that was constructed there and means "the portal of the gods", or "gate of the gods". Jesus is the spiritual husband of the church therefore if a church unites with or receives favors of one who is not her husband, she commits spiritual adultery.

Here we see Babylon is called the “great whore” who committed fornication or spiritual adultery. The “many waters” she sits on are the countless people she has deceived and “made drunk” with her doctrines. The “kings of the earth” represent civil powers or the power of the state. When churches lose the power of the gospel to transform hearts and lives they turn to the power of the state to support their doctrines and thus they commit spiritual fornication.

We see this repeated in many verses in Revelation...
Revelation 14:8
8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Revelation 16:19
19 And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

The name Babylon or "the portal of the gods" in a sense portrays a means of access to the gods that is contrary to Gods plan. Access is granted through the system and not by faith in Jesus Christ. It is a system where salvation by works replaces salvation by faith. Numerous verses in the book of Revelation warn against Babylon, and admonish Gods people to come out of Babylon.
Revelation 18:1-5
1 And after these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightened with his glory.
2 And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3 For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.


The unclean and hateful birds reference the counterfeit spirit of demons that would power the system and lead people to believe that they are working with the power of God when it is a deception masquerading as truth. In verse 4, John hears "another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues." This warns Gods people not to become entangled with this "Mystery Babylon" so they are not "partakers of her sins" or her abominations to avoid the "her plagues".

The Babylon is not the physical Babylon but spiritual Babylon as we see even Peter used it.
1 Peter 5:13
13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so doth Marcus my son.

Peter wrote these words when literal Babylon no longer existed. The woman that rides the beast also has all the identifying features as we see, "the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet color, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication". The great prostitute is obviously not a good woman and has issues that go beyond just a few mistakes. Just as ancient Babylon depended on the Euphrates River for its existence, so will end-time Babylon rely on the support of the masses to enforce her plans. So must discern and understand who and what is this spiritual Babylon?

It was never Mystery (Musterion or secret by God's silence/to shut the mouth) Babylon is was MYSTERY followed be Three things describing who she was. This should be evident, in vs. 7 the Angel says come, I will SHOW YOU the "Mystery" of the Harlot and the Beast she rides so it was neve a SECRET since then, its just been misdiagnosed.

MYSTERY

1.) Babylon the Great ( Babylon was world renowned for her FALSE RELIGION )

2.) Mother of Harlots ( FALSE RELIGION was the original Harlotry against God )

3.) Abomination of the earth ( God is a jealous God and hates all FALSE RELION )

So, God just DESCRIBED unto us who the Harlot is, All FALSE RELIGION, throughout all history, that is why she has the blood of the [Jewish] Saints AND the Martyrs on her hands. So, False Religion is of course on both sides of the cross. The Beast she rides represents Governments, but alas the Last Beast (one man) will require Beast worship, thus he must kill off all FALSE RELIGIONS, including Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism et al. However none of those are Babylon per se. God used Babylon in place of Rome and/or the Whole World. If John had written the whole world will be used Rome would have seen that as treason because they saw themselves at THE WORLD !! That is also why Rev. 12 uses The Women instead of Israel, you couldn't say Israel will one day rule the world with Jesus, so instead a male child (not man child) will rule the world with the woman who flees. Rome had just conquered Israel in full, it would have been treason to say otherwise or to have the Letters to the 7 Churches/Revelation in your possession with those words in there.

Rev. 16:19 proves Babylon is the WHOLE VWORLD getting judged.

19 And the great city was divided(Jerusalem/Earthquake/Jesus returns) into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell(Jesus judges and defeats the NATIONS): and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

So God sees these people Jesus defeats as Babylon the Great, notice that? And so who did Jesus defeat? Well, Vial #6 tells us, the Dragon, F.P. and Beast/A.C. get the peoples and the kings of the WHOLE WORLD to gather at Armageddon.

So, Babylon, in God's eyes is the WHOLE WORLD. But why? Well God is going to judge the whole world not one city. Notice in Rev. 18:2 Babylon has become the Habitation of Devils, and we know Satan gets cast down and Apollyon released from the Pit, and all of their angels will dwell where? On this earth, called Babylon. Remember, Babel means confusion.

Babylon to God = Satan's Dark Kingdom of CONFUSION on this earth where he so confuses the masses that they go to war against their own loving Creator. That is a Babel (confused) as you can get.

Its not Rome, its not Jerusalem, its not America or Mecca. Follwing other men only leads one down wrong paths. Ask God His truths and He will reveal them, especially in these end times.

This beast system started out in the beginning with Nimrod and the tower of Babel in whom he became the first king over Babylon. This is a Luciferian system comprised of economic, political, militant, environmental and false worldly religion that ran through all four Empires in whom the last Empire received a deadly wound, but has since been healed being revived once again as its works are hidden from the carnal mind.

The woman was drunk with power the beast (Satan) gave her as she made martyrs of the saints and prophets of God. The mystery of the woman is now revealed to John as being the Babylonian Empire (was, and is not, yet to come). The same Empire that in time became the Roman Empire that has captured John and sent him to the isle of Patmos as a prisoner for preaching the word of God to the seven Churches in Asia. The same Empire that have always persecuted, even to death, the saints, the Prophets, the Apostles and even Christ.

The beast, being Satan, has always controlled the seven heads and ten nations as he works through those to kill, steal and destroy that which is God’s.

The seven mountains are not literal mountains, but symbolic of present day Iraq, Iran, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Egypt and Rome being part of Satan’s ruling power found in the four nations of the Babylonian Empire, Medo-Persian Empire, Grecian Empire and Roman Empire. John would have known of all these nations throughout history and surely knew the Roman Empire in his lifetime.

The five fallen kingdoms that have always persecuted Gods people before John's lifetime were Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, and Greece. John could only know that of the Roman Empire in his life time as Israel was in subjection to Rome. Before John’s time Israel was in subjection to Greece, Persia and Babylon and in its earlier history was in slavery to Assyria and in its beginning was in slavery to Egypt.

The beast out of the earth that Satan gives power to, Rev 13, is this seventh and eight king that will go into perdition causing a falling away before the return of Christ, 2Thessalonians 2:2, 3, as he sits on the mount of the congregation in the sides of the north taking his seat on the same mount that use to be the Temple of God as he deceives the nations claiming to be like God, Isaiah 14:12-14.

It is the patience and endurance of those saints that wait for the coming of the Lord who will take vengeance on those who have persecuted Gods children as their earthly kingdom temporarily belongs to the whore as it has always been in the past until all the words of God be fulfilled.

Revelation literally describes that city as the "the bride, the wife of the Lamb". (Rev 21:9-10) So unless Jesus is marrying a bunch of buildings, then that golden city is a symbol of the people of God, His redeemed church.

The other city is Babylon; it is a symbol of the un-redeemed; trying to appear grand and royal but just a filthy drunken whore. It is the city that sin and rebellion built. The world system of sin and self that you see all around you. Mankind without God.
