I just wanted to post a quick thread to try and get some people on board to actually HELP stop the oncoming flooding of nearly half a million acres of the Amazon.
Please take just 1 minute of your time to sign the petition over at
avaaz.org/en/amazon_under_threat/?copy to put a stop to big business building a new dam in the amazon that will flood half a million acres of the amazon, destroy the natural flow of the river and most importantly (not like that wasn't important enough!), flood the lands of some of the only tribes left on the planet that have remained untouched by the outside world.
This petition is incredibly urgent as the confirmation could be granted within weeks despite warnings from all over the world of the effects.
Many top officials have recently 'resigned' over the fact that they are getting pushed to pass this build through, despite mass protests, the environment agency saying it would be DISASTROUS to the entire Amazon, and reports of death threats, bribery and massive corruption within the government.
All of this just so corporations can make more money.
It takes 1 minute to fill in the form, and AVAARZ are one of the largest 'people power' organisations and the most respected in political arenas in the world. This is one thing that can REALY make a difference, so please please help stop this.
