I can't even watch it. I tell my son all the time, Wierd Al should be the happiest guy in show business, because he has the most success from the least amount of talent. Yeah, actually he's probably tied for the bottom wrung with a whole lot of people out there, but how hard is it to change a few words and act a fool?

I don't know. What is talent? Al is the best at what he does I guess, which to me is making fun of the popular entertainers of our day. There seems to be an irony he is communicating in his bits, and maybe that irony is about how we, as a culture, eat up the garbage in the first place. :)

Has anyone ever seen the "Literal videos?"

Since I think the replies and OP all came of age in the 80's, and it might be a while until someone answers my question. I thought I'd go ahead and post a "literal video".

Not to steal Al's thunder, but literal videos are videos redone to describe what's happening in the video using the song but changing the words to fit the description. One of the funniest I've ever seen is Journey's Separate Ways.

I know you all know the song, and I'm sure you remember this video and how "cool" it was on MTV back in the day. So here it is as a literal video.

However, The band Journey did not find it funny and it's been taken down just about everywhere, but thankfully someone was able to re-frame it and show it again. prepare to laugh and perhaps laugh at yourselves for ever thinking this was cool

Actually, few people could get away with what he does - the guy can actually sing.

I find him very entertaining. He's also quite conservative. ;)

This is my favorite Al video, and I think he makes us all laugh hard at generation x:
