I was reading about Abraham when he went to offer Isaac on the altar. I remembered the teaching of the letter to the Romans, when it talked about dying to self so we may live. I see Abraham dying and releasing the very thing that his self life held so dear to him. Isaac occupied the very place in Abraham’s heart that belonged to God.
That very self part which resulted in pride that caused Lucifer to fall. The same self nature he fed in Adam and Eve in the garden that led to pride and desire for independence from God. We are the same; until it is put to death we will serve it and be led by it. Scripture says we can only serve one master.
It was not till that death of self that Abraham was freed to live the life God had for him. What an awesome prophetic picture God put before us, God spared Isaac but not short of the sacrificial atonement of the blood. God provided a substitute, a ram. God’s love and desire for this world and His people played out in this same way on Calvary when He offered His Son Jesus as a substitute for this world. He was perfect without blemish without sin no fault was found in Him.
It was His blood that atoned for the sins of this world it was His blood that satisfied the debt to God. It is His blood that cleanses and clothes the children of God in robes His righteousness. It is His blood that brought victory over Satan. It is His blood that causes the enemy to flee. It is by Him and through Him we are set free.
