Hi!
Less than a month ago I became Christian after 31 years in the Mormon Church (I thought I was Christian that whole time). Over the last six years I have been trying to overcome the brainwashing and have gone from anger, to confusion, to not even believing in God, and finally peace and love! Who knew it could be so simple, the gospel of Jesus Christ. I never read the Bible as a Mormon.

I am here because I feel like a child - that's how little I know about Christianity. I also REALLY want to find some fellow ex Mormons who are going through similar things as I, because I have found that the exmormon.org is very much anti Christian. I have so many questions.

Which board do you recommend I post to for questions to ex mormons? There are too many boards here and I get confused. Thanks!

Wow, welcome home, brother. I trust some will know where to point you but if you will settle for just a teacher, i can answer your questions, to the best of my ability.

Welcome aboard.

And yes it is so simple. Never allow anyone to drag you away from the simplicity that is the grace of Jesus. Because you will discover a lot of Works salvation people who declare that the law must be done to be saved within the christian churches.. So be careful and make sure you keep your foundation the Bible, not other people..

I am not sure about other ex-mormons here? But you will find many here who will offer answers to your questions... They may not always be the right answer but you will get answrs that you will need to check with scriptures.

I hope you grow in the knowledge of salvation and may the Holy Spirit guide you always.

Welcome to our Christian fellowship dear Sister seekinghim. It's wonderful to have you among us, and we are all at some point of growth in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus which will continue until we are face to face with our Savior. I came out of a major church where I wasn't even taught that I was saved by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, and allegiance to it and religious works of all manner was mandatory to ensure a maybe deliverance from God's wrath. God loves you and me above all we can even imagine, and as God's calling fell upon you, you are being separated or sanctified as it were to be in the perfect will of God. Take unto you the whole armor of God which is the word of God, and at the following URL is a summation of that doctrine that may help you to get your feet firmly on the ground. Blessings in Christ Jesus. :)

Former Mormon here, who has received a rather thorough education on the Bible and doctrinal differences across Christianity since. If you ever have any questions, I would love to help you out.

Blessings to you sister!

Welcome. I'm glad you got past the anger stage. As a refuge from the church of Christ, I know all too well, the resentment you can harbor for both your former "home", the people still involved there, for Religion in general, and for God, too.

However, you may still have one big hurdle...... the frustration of so many individual views and opinions. This open Christianity does have that as a very real problem to have to deal with. Any "controlling" religion is certainly easier to deal with.... but the challenging journey will be worth it.

But, you'll do it, and you will come to know God as He has specifically called you to know Him. Just try to remember that although we are all on the right path, not too many of us are totally "right". Shoot, really maybe not ANY of us.

Hey man. There's a board for Christianity and other religions. If you need prayer, need to vent...post...wherever, really.

Sorry about the whole Mormon thing. I can't really imagine...false religions, kinda scary. Glad you were able to see The Truth. Anyway...

...welcome to CFnet!

I feel great! I cannot believe I ever believed all of the crap! Thinking about it now makes me feel worn out.

Thanks everyone! It's great to hear that lots of people here are x something!

It makes me SO mad! I told my mom ONE piece of evidence against her church - something horrible a "prophet" said and she said, "I guess it's just better to be naive." She didn't want to hear it because they are programmed to not listen to anything contrary. It's sad indeed.

How does your family feel about you leaving?Sometimes families will disown a family member if they leave a cult religion.

So glad you found the courage to think for yourself, and seek God's truth. Praying that you will be blessed and that God will work with you to be a light to those of your friends and family who have not yet come to know the simple message of God's love manifest in Jesus.

Speaking very honestly, many of us could echo the exact same words you just typed, ("I cannot believe I ever believed all of the crap!"), concerning many of the "sacred cow" doctrines and beliefs of mainstream Christianity that we were also spoon-fed as we grew up...... and that many STILL believe.

This is not something exclusively esoteric to Mormonism. It occurs within the hallowed halls of just about every single denomination out there. And, people will stand and fight you, tooth and nail, to defend what they were simply "told" is the truth.

I also am an ex-mormon, then ex-christian. I spent years researching and debunking mormon doctrine, I even had my own website. Leaving a belief is very hard and it is a very painful process, your whole world view gets pulled from out under you. But you do recover, and you start to find yourself and you start thinking for yourself.

The best Bible you can ever give away is you Life Style Witness. My nephew, named after me, said he worked so hard to earn the top level of the, Mormon, seven levels of Heaven that when he reached the Temple Mormon Level he, just, remembered my and others Life Style Witness' and would take no more of the lies.

You might, very well, without any effort be the tool God uses to move your mom into the Light. We can all pray for that.

LORD, you, alone, know what is best in this case and Father, please hear our cries and move on this family, all of them, Lord. Amen!

Ummm, I was a Baptist for lots of years, grew up in the Baptist church. No different than Mormon, bad doctrine is bad doctrine and destorys the ability to have faith in God. You can't have faith in someone your told is mysterious.

I would not, go seeking other ex-Mormon. Paul said one thing He knows, putting the past behind and looking forward. You don't want to get into a place where your talking against another group. It's not good for your spirit man, and you want zero roots of bitterness to come in.

The Mormon church does not believe like most of us do. If God has delivered you from there, then leave it alone.

You can help others by being the new example, without saying a word. A life full of the Spirit of God is a shinning life, and something people will be drawn to.

Blessings and Welcome.
